The coolest thing just happened!
May. 3rd, 2009 11:51 amI was sitting at the computer, when I heard BANG! BANG! at the window downstairs. Having been through this before, I ran outside to see what poor birds had brained themselves on our windows this time.
It was a HAWK! and ... something else, probably in the starling family.
The starling thing was kind of lying on the ground, splayed out, and I didn't have much hope for it, where the Hawk was sitting on his ...knees? (like, feet out infront of him) and his head was twiching from side to side, almostl like someone who has just spun around 1000 times.
I actuall got out there just in time to stop Big, our barn cat from having a wonderful lunch on them. I sat for a while, and they were so stunned that they let me touch them (SOO COOL!!) and then the starling thing started to get up, and I helped it get somewhere a little less 'lunchy' and then I ran inside and got a glove and my camera, and I PICKED UP THE HAWK! How effin cool is that? Such a beautiful bird. Once she seemed a little more 'with it' I tried to walk her over to a low tree, but she took off. YAY! The starling scuttled over to a bush, and was sitting on one of the branches, so I suppose he'll be okay too.
I gather the hawk was chasing the starling, and they both hit the window, thinking it was a through way or something.
Okay, now I'm off to work!

Date: 2009-05-04 08:02 am (UTC)I told my husband about this as soon as I read it. He was looking at the two pictures with me and when he saw the second, he said, "That hawk looks like he's saying 'ok. I won't eat you if you promise to never. tell. anyone. about. this.'"
