Milky Wave Update and some random bitching
Milky is doing GREAT! His leg still hasn't healed, but it looks much better.

He has been CRAZY lately. Attacking my feet everytime I walk by. Attacking random bits of lint on the floor. Attacking our other cat's tail.
Obviously, the boy is feeling much better.

Here he is attacking the camera.

And here he is with no head. *shrug*
And now random bitching:
So, it was my son Quincey's seventh birthday last week. My mom, who lives in a different province, called two days before his birthday and asked what Quincey might like. I told her that he'd REALLY like tickets to Bon Jovi.
On his actual birthday, my mom calls.
MOM: OMG! THE TICKETS ARE LIKE $60!!
Me:Uh yeah mom, it's a concert.
Mom: Well, I don't want to spend that much.
Me: So don't.
Mom: BUT I WANT TO BUY HIM SOMETHING HE REALLY WANTS.
Me: So get him something else.
Mom: But I don't know what he wants.
Me: He wants to go to a concert.
Mom: That's too much money.
Me: How much did you want to spend?
Mom: I don't know.
Me: *fumes*
My mother has TWO grandchildren, both mine. She just came back from a two week trip to to Cuba, and spent a month over christmas in Vancouver. She has lots of money. Since she lives far away, she doesn't contribute to them in a monetary way, and obviously doesn't babysit or anything.
I guess the fact that she didn't even think to send him a card in time for his birthday is really disappointing. I'm really not sure why I keep letting my parents disappoint me when it comes to my children. I'm not sure that they (my kids) even notice if their grandparents forget birthdays and stuff.
And now some funny Quincey quotes:
"Let's pretend we're in a movie, and I'm a hobo!" WTF?
and today:
"So, ... does Jesus look like Captain Jack Sparrow?"
ahahahaha!

As for your mother ... the idea of ever getting a parent to buy you or your kids something that you actually either want or need seems to be completely alien; in our family we've resorted to doing 'wish lists' which does seem to work, thank goodness. I think you should just ask her for some money to put towards the tickets, and let her send whatever she wants to send.
On the Jack Sparrow thing, though ... You know, that wouldn't be such a bad idea!

About your mother... well, I would be very disappointed, too...

I don't blame you for being disappointed, to not even send a card, that's awful.
Love Quincy's quotes. :)

So glad Milky is doing better. Brave little kitten.*snuggles him carefully*
As for your mom, I can only speak from personal experience (my mom's mother sounds a lot like yours) and say: kids do notice. *hugs*

Ticketmaster offers gift cards in various denominations. She can buy them online, also. http://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/11004381F7C5EB83?artistid=1172782&majorcatid=10005&minorcatid=0

My mom sends cards, but confuses every ones birthdays and we all get them months from when our birthdays actually are.

Also, your mom blows. You're nicer than me, I'd have been like "WELL mom, I guess you have no money left from Cuba, or Vancouver, my God you'll be in the poorhouse soon!!" and just given her shit. I mean I know she doesn't HAVE to buy him that concert ticket but ugh.

And how did you answer the Jesus question?? LOL
Ugh. From things you've posted before, your mother sounds like a hopeless cause. It's probably a good thing that she's not being inflicted on your kids regularly. X(

And UGH! My sister has the same problem with my mom regarding her kids. And her MIL isn't much better, though she likes to think she is. Truth is, kids got the shaft on the grandparent angle...good thing they have an aunt that rocks...or in your case, parents that ROCK!!

Hope he had a great birthday anyway.

Grandma = suck. You're right; I never noticed if my grandparents remembered my birthday. I missed the money, but other than that ...

I wish Jesus wore as much eye makeup as Captain Jack, maybe it would make the more homophobic sort of xtian STFU.

LOL, those Quincey quotes!!
That's sad he didn't get the concert tickets from his grandma (I mean, srsly, didn't she realize that would've made her the Coolest Grandma Ever??), but I hope he had a great birthday anyway! :)
