Milky Wave Update and some random bitching

Milky is doing GREAT! His leg still hasn't healed, but it looks much better.

He has been CRAZY lately. Attacking my feet everytime I walk by. Attacking random bits of lint on the floor. Attacking our other cat's tail.

Obviously, the boy is feeling much better.

Here he is attacking the camera.

And here he is with no head. *shrug*

And now random bitching:

So, it was my son Quincey's seventh birthday last week. My mom, who lives in a different province, called two days before his birthday and asked what Quincey might like. I told her that he'd REALLY like tickets to Bon Jovi.

On his actual birthday, my mom calls.

MOM: OMG! THE TICKETS ARE LIKE $60!!
Me:Uh yeah mom, it's a concert.
Mom: Well, I don't want to spend that much.
Me: So don't.
Mom: BUT I WANT TO BUY HIM SOMETHING HE REALLY WANTS.
Me: So get him something else.
Mom: But I don't know what he wants.
Me: He wants to go to a concert.
Mom: That's too much money.
Me: How much did you want to spend?
Mom: I don't know.
Me: *fumes*

My mother has TWO grandchildren, both mine. She just came back from a two week trip to to Cuba, and spent a month over christmas in Vancouver. She has lots of money. Since she lives far away, she doesn't contribute to them in a monetary way, and obviously doesn't babysit or anything.

I guess the fact that she didn't even think to send him a card in time for his birthday is really disappointing. I'm really not sure why I keep letting my parents disappoint me when it comes to my children. I'm not sure that they (my kids) even notice if their grandparents forget birthdays and stuff.

And now some funny Quincey quotes:

"Let's pretend we're in a movie, and I'm a hobo!" WTF?
and today:

"So, ... does Jesus look like Captain Jack Sparrow?"

ahahahaha!

The interested expression on (what I can see of!) his little face in the second picture tells me all I need to know; this cat is finding some very good reasons to go on living.

As for your mother ... the idea of ever getting a parent to buy you or your kids something that you actually either want or need seems to be completely alien; in our family we've resorted to doing 'wish lists' which does seem to work, thank goodness. I think you should just ask her for some money to put towards the tickets, and let her send whatever she wants to send.

On the Jack Sparrow thing, though ... You know, that wouldn't be such a bad idea!

I'm happy for Milky! Is like kids, when we play, you know there're better.
About your mother... well, I would be very disappointed, too...

Oh, great news about Milky! And I love your son's quotes (did he confuse "hobo" and "hobbit"? Sweet!)

[identity profile] spike7451.livejournal.com 2010-05-12 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That is wonderful news about Milky, he is one tough, determined little kitty cat.

I don't blame you for being disappointed, to not even send a card, that's awful.

Love Quincy's quotes. :)

Bon Jovi so are worth 60 dollars!! (man they're worth much more than that!!)

*hugs*
So glad Milky is doing better. Brave little kitten.*snuggles him carefully*

As for your mom, I can only speak from personal experience (my mom's mother sounds a lot like yours) and say: kids do notice. *hugs*

:\ Sorry about your mother, though Quincey is absolutely adorable. ^__^

So glad Milky Wave is doing better!

I'm glad the cat is better! Sorry to hear about your mom's attitude. :(

Ticketmaster offers gift cards in various denominations. She can buy them online, also. http://www.ticketmaster.ca/event/11004381F7C5EB83?artistid=1172782&majorcatid=10005&minorcatid=0

I am glad milky is doing much better! All these things you list means he's getting better. Give the healing a few more weeks. So glad it looks like he's not going to loose a leg!

Thanks for the card!

Got your card, Tripp, thanks! The picture inside was adorable! Glad Milky's doing better ♥

Aww, happy birthday to your son. Sorry about your mom, dear. I agree about the card :-(

[identity profile] 1scout.livejournal.com 2010-05-12 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really happy that Milky is doing so much better.
My mom sends cards, but confuses every ones birthdays and we all get them months from when our birthdays actually are.

GO MILKY!! Awww. I'm so happy he's doing better.

Also, your mom blows. You're nicer than me, I'd have been like "WELL mom, I guess you have no money left from Cuba, or Vancouver, my God you'll be in the poorhouse soon!!" and just given her shit. I mean I know she doesn't HAVE to buy him that concert ticket but ugh.

[identity profile] r-grayjoy.livejournal.com 2010-05-12 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yay! So glad Milky's starting to heal, and is definitely feeling better. :D He looks much better too, from, uh, what I can tell in the action photos.

And how did you answer the Jesus question?? LOL

Ugh. From things you've posted before, your mother sounds like a hopeless cause. It's probably a good thing that she's not being inflicted on your kids regularly. X(

Yay for Milky! And a big bleh for mom! How is it possible that people can´t see their behaviour is hurtful when they do stuff like that??? Celebrate your wonderful son and try to focus on the positive things in your life. Seriously, if the woman hasn´t learned by now, I don´t give her much hope.

*hugs you*

So happy about kitty!!

And UGH! My sister has the same problem with my mom regarding her kids. And her MIL isn't much better, though she likes to think she is. Truth is, kids got the shaft on the grandparent angle...good thing they have an aunt that rocks...or in your case, parents that ROCK!!

[identity profile] katiebell-0408.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, he is looking much better. So happy to hear that. As for your mother, I completely sympathize. I'm the only one in my family who doesn't live in the same city as my parents, and my poor son is always forgotten. And no one seems to take into account that they don't get a lot of time with him. I always get the "I wish we could see him more" but the only way that happens is if we make the long drive to their house. That's been true pretty much since he was a baby (and you know how hard it is to travel with babies). And don't get me started on my in-laws. *fumes and rants with you*

Hope he had a great birthday anyway.

[identity profile] antisocial-nerd.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, Milky looks so much better! *hugs* I love what you guys did for him, that's just so amazing.

I'm sorry about your mum... that totally sucks.

[identity profile] lucianwolf.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Milky is made of awesome! I'm so very glad he's better.

Grandma = suck. You're right; I never noticed if my grandparents remembered my birthday. I missed the money, but other than that ...

[identity profile] chocolate-frapp.livejournal.com 2010-05-13 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
glad to see yr kitty is doing better.
I wish Jesus wore as much eye makeup as Captain Jack, maybe it would make the more homophobic sort of xtian STFU.

[identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com 2010-05-15 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
On the Jack Sparrow thing, though ... You know, that wouldn't be such a bad idea! Yes, I'm sure there'd be a sharp upswing in new converts to the church! :D

I bought him the tickets, and she can go to hell/s> get him whatever she wants to.

[identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com 2010-05-15 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, both my parents seem to disappoint me a lot lately.

*shrugs* What can I do?

As for milky, yes, his playing tells me he's feeling better.

[identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com 2010-05-15 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
No, he was not confused. He is obsessed with hobos for some reason.

[identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com 2010-05-15 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

The kids certainly keep things interesting around here!
