Mwahahahaha!

Okay, it's not great, but it is quite the photoshop milestone for me.
Thank god for youtube tutorials.

I'm still a million miles from where I want to be, but ... meh. I honestly prefer traditional media. I'll stare much longer at a 'real' painting than I will a digital one, but for cartoon fandoms, nothing looks better than digital.

Thanks for all the hugs and advice guys!

That is looking pretty good. ^_^ Though I have to disagree with your disdain of digital media. Have you ever seen this person's stuff: http://njoo.deviantart.com/ I could stare at that shit for hours.

That looks pretty awesome to me, especially around his facial features.

Not bad....but this character reminds me of the alien on the flintstones. =) I see you located the smudge tool. XD

Thanks! It's so nice when you can see some IMMEDIATE improvement. (just goes to show how shitty I was yesterday!)

Oh, it's not distain! There is some amazing stuff out there. But generally, when I see really cool digital stuff, I say "wow, that's really cool" When I see really cool traditional stuff, I'm more likely to stare and look and stare some more.

I dunno why.

Thanks! This is a big improvement from two hours ago. Hopefully I'll manage to get way better than this too.

Maybe it's because you have more interest in creating pieces using traditional media? You want to study it and see how they're doing what they're doing so you can replicate it if you wanted to. I used to work with colored pencils, markers and various paints, and back then, I did study traditional media quite a bit, but since starting digital, particularly after I started doing art for video games, I've done nothing but study digital and pixel art because that's what I'm aiming to replicate.
