A response about my deleted art.
Jun. 16th, 2008 10:36 pmI appealled (sp?) my art deletion, asking on what grounds it was removed, and I got this message today on DeviantArt:
According to the logs the work removed was considered pornographic in nature due to the implied mouth to genital contact. Your deviantART submissions must avoid certain themes which are not considered to be acceptable for submission here.
WTF? IMPLIED? Dear god, that is a slippery slope!
Here is my rebuttal for them:
Thank you for your response.
Your FAQ states that mouth to genital contact is not allowed, and I certainly can accept that. There is nothing stated in the rules about IMPLIED anything.
After having art forcibly deleted over year ago, I have made a great effort to follow the rules here. I enjoy being a member of DA. Please take a second look at this last batch of art in question. I will allow that two of them, although nothing is showing, there is little doubt as to what they are doing.
As for Taste Of Spandex, both people in question are fully clothed, and one is biting the front of the other's pants, stretching them out. He is not touching anything other than spandex. I am quite sure that this does not go against your terms of Service.
As for Wrong, so Wrong, it is a picture of a sponge kneeling in front of a starfish. Niether animal actually posesses genitals.
The person who reported this art has a personal vendetta against a friend of mine, and now she seems to be going after the people who's art she has favourited.
Thank you for your time.
*sigh* I wish I was more eloquent. I really wanted to stand up and shout about how they can't just go around bending the rules to suit them, but erm...it's their site, I suppose that they can. not to mention that I have a free subscription there...not a leg to stand on, I suppose.
I will keep y'all updated if and when I hear back from them.
ETA: Oh, I should add that I posted THIS as my artistic rebuttal. I have another one planned, but this one only took 3 minutes. :D
