I made some shirts, wanna see 'em? ART!

Well, I made some DESIGNS for shirts. Over on woot.com they have a weekly contest to design a shirt based on their prompt for the week. Last week was back to school, and I made these ones:







Sadly, they weren't very popular in the vote. the red one got 8 votes, and the blue one got like 38, which made it ...62nd. (out of 192) The winning designs generally get over 800 votes.

This week the theme is DOGS, with the caveat that you can't have any text. (you get to title the pic, but it doesn't show up on the shirt.)

I made this one:
Called Lab ra Doodle (it's drawn with scribbles) and so far, it has a pathetic 7 votes. Then I came up with this one:

Called Faithful Shepherd, and it too, has about 7 votes. REALLY? WTF? I'm not an amazing artist, nor am I the most clever person around, but both of these shirts are FAR better than many over there that have tons more votes. Don't get me wrong, the shirts that are in the lead are pretty fabulous, and I have oceans and oceans to learn about graphic design (hence my entering this contest), but I'm disappointed in my standing.

Then, to practice my halftones, I entered this one:
Titled: This IS my happy face.

Obviously none of these will win, but after the contest they'll show up in my zazzle/cafe press stores.


Oh, and livejournal? WTF is with the new format? did you really have to fuck with how pics are uploaded? You suck.

I think your back to school ones are just too clever for people. The blue one is supposed to be doodles in a trapper keeper, yeah? (Wow, just dated myself...) That's like spot-on. The red one made me lol.

Thanks hon. I think I'll try the Jesus dog over on Threadless and when it gets rejected there, I'll put it up in my Zazzle shop.

Hmm... I haven't been around there long enough to know if anyone has followers or not. It DOES seem that most winners have multiple wins, but really, most of their stuff is awesome, while some of the art that scores higher than mine (but still doesn't win) is shit.

I MUST CREATE MY OWN ARMY OF VOTING MINIONS! :D
