Tommorrow, I actually have been asked (by PIJAC)* to stand in front of city council and speak to the proposed ban of dogs in pet stores and also to the proposed list of 'allowed' animals. (ie: what types of reptiles are allowed/not allowed in the city.)

Now, I'm pretty cool getting up in front of a crowd and talking about peen, but this should be interesting. And by interesting, I mean eye-gougingly repetitive and dry.

*PIJAC = Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council. (no, not the cool kind of joints ...)

I often have a problem with a lot of the pet stores I've been to out here but I'm sure you don't leave animals without water etc and if you're selling them spayed/neutered then I can't see what the problem is.

Thanks! Yes it went just fine. There were quite a few people taking on different points of the mandate that they disagreed with. In the end, it got tabled for a couple of months so that it could be re-worked.

Yay. I'll count that as not a loss.

It was a LOOOONG day There were multiple, multiple speakers on many different points of contention, but in the end, it proposed bill was tabled for a few months so that it would be reworked.

Lucky for me, my speech was actually written by someone at PIJAC. I changed it and added some of my own, but since we found out about the bylaw changes on Friday, and I had to present on Monday, so it was great to have some help.
