A roach retirement home. Must have live cockroaches in it and must be sized to their scale, for their comfort and enjoyment.





We don't carry hissing cockroaches, so I had to call around to find these. And can I say? UGH! Absolutely disgusting. I handle crickets and mealworms and superworms on a regular basis, and people always squirm and grimace and ask how I can put my hands into pails of bugs and I just kind of shrug. No biggie. Hell, I handle tarantulas and THEY don't hold a candle to these things. They're all ... scuttling and clingie! They have little pokey legs that GRAB you when you touch them. *shudder* Seriously. Just DO NOT WANT.

I am very much a 'live and let live' kind of gal, but these guys went DIRECTLY into the freezer when I was done this, and the next morning I fed them to my chickens. *shudders moar*

I do love the little furniture in the home. And that bulletin board is fantastic.

And I don't blame you for disliking roaches. I don't mind spiders or most other bugs. But fleas, ticks, roaches, bedbugs and mosquitoes... ugh. Yuck.

Alan (my fiancé) adores cockroaches, the bizarre man. I sponsored a hissing cockroach at a zoo for him one Valentine's Day, and he was thrilled. He has a plastic one called Colin who lives on the shelf.

Mosquitoes are annoying, but they don't gross me out.

The furniture is Model Magic. Kind of like play-dough, but ... easier to work with. I used it a lot during this hunt! :D

Yes, Nurse CRoachet was on purpose! I distinctly remember a window like that from the movie, and yet, I could not find a screen shot of it.

I was squealing like a little girl the whole time. Trust me.
They weren't cooperating, so I had Harry pushing them to my side of the aquarium with a spatula. They kept climbing the walls, and Quincey kept screeching that they would get out.

We are a very brave, manly family. ;)

I used to have pet crickets as a kid. They're pretty easy to take care of. Don't live long, though.
