For reals, I don't mind hosting your child most of the time. Movies, sleepovers, play dates, etc. I've always said that I would prefer all the kids to play at my house, because then I KNOW WHERE THEY ARE and what they're doing, but FFS! Every time?

My kids have pretty much three friends that they hang out with. One of them has slept over at our house no less than 25 times, and ONE of my kids slept at his house ONCE. He also ALWAYS plays over here, they NEVER go over there. HE LIVES JUST DOWN THE STREET FROM US. *sigh*

Pretty much the same story with friend #2. The sleepover ratio is more like 25 us, and maybe 5 him.

Luckily, friend #3 and his folks have more sense. His mom has complained about the same thing too. WTF? Do you hate your kids that much that you just need to farm them out at every opportunity and never feel the need to reciprocate?

Also?

Dear Wallpaper, FUCK YOU VERY MUCH.
We are doing a bit of a kitchen reno, and I have now spent way too much time steaming and scraping wallpaper. Seriously, it should be illegal.

Stained Glass Iron Man #2 is almost done!!!! Hopefully tommorrow.

When Katie was young I took the two next door neighbor boys with us so often on shopping trips, to the park, to movies, and everywhere else, people though the boys were mine. They never took Katie with them anywhere (not that they ever went many places if I didn't take them) and the one time they played basketball at their house, Katie broke two fingers. *sigh* But it was nice in a way since Katie did get a pseudo sibling experience out of it.

OMG seriously wallpaper is the WORST. I vow never to have wallpaper in my house, because even if I don't take it down myself, I don't want future owners to have to take it down. I wouldn't want to inflict that torture on anyone.

One of my worst summers ever was stripping the house of wallpaper.

You need to consider the possibility that it's just more fun at your house than anywhere else!

Also, when I was a kid I had a couple of sleepovers at people's houses but my parents *hated* having my friends round at all; they were very rarely allowed to visit and never ever stayed over. It was always "If you want to play with So-and-so you can do it at her house, not round here; we like our peace and quiet." It's just not a level playing-field, alas, and not everybody sees things the same way.

Is it the kid's choice, or the parent's to not have your kids over? If it's the former, maybe there's something going on at Kid2's house and he feels more comfortable with you. Personally, I was always embarrassed to have people over because we lived in a small, (sometimes) messy apartment while most of my friends lived in houses.

It could also be that you're more fun. :)

I very much try to not hold it against the kids, because it isn't their fault, but I can't not roll my eyes when my kids ask if X can sleep over (yet again.)

Gosh, I sure would like it if someone would baby sit MY kids every weekend for free!

I guess I should just be thankful that it's only in the kitchen. And also that they didn't smoke. That 30 year old paper didn't smell too good when steamed, and I'm sure, if they'd been smoking around it for decades, it certainly would have added to the odour!

:D I really DO think it's more fun here, and that's on purpose! I guess I'd even just appreciate the OFFER, even if the kids all decided to stay here instead.

Well, actually, it's pretty exciting for my kids to be somewhere else too. And probably good for them.

I really don't get it. I mean, if they HATED my kids, they probably wouldn't let THEIR kids stay here, right? ...right? ;)

*sigh* Oh well.

:D I am WAY more fun! ;)

Well, we are pretty messy, so unless someone is an actual HOARDER, I doubt they'd be messier. I have been in the houses of all three friends, and I'd say they are comparable in nice-ness.

This seems to be a parents thing. *shrug* Both non-reciprocating families have two younger siblings, and I understand that adding to the noise and confusion of young ones is something to consider, but 25-1? That's just them being lazy/rude, if you ask me.

Of course, it's not the kids' fault, but it still makes me shake my head.

I would prefer all the kids to play at my house, because then I KNOW WHERE THEY ARE and what they're doing, I'm with you there. But sometimes just suck the cheek people have...
