Chalk!Foreman art
Apr. 12th, 2007 06:25 pmI think I've made his face too skinny, and God, he looks pissed! :D
Not my best likeness, but this is chalk on black paper, so I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, considering, for a long time, it didn't even look human.
and please ignore my tiles behind him. I CANNOT draw a straight line, and I CERTAINLY cannot get up off my ass a get a ruler! ;^)

Date: 2007-04-13 02:41 am (UTC)His suit looks as if I could touch his shoulders and feel the texture. And I love the color on his face. Color is so... backwards on black paper. And yet not. You obviously don't have a problem. ;)
I can't complain about your art. I really can't. It's not realism to me. I hope that's insulting, because it's not meant to be. You EXPRESS so much. The character is really there in this piece, and that's something realism doesn't always convey. I mean, there are Normal Rockwells, and that's all well and good, but the Van Goghs are undeniably more interesting.
Great work!

Date: 2007-04-13 02:47 am (UTC)Chalk is actually more forgiving than some other mediums, but it doesn't erase! grrrr
thanks for the nice comments, I really appreciate them! <3

Date: 2007-04-13 02:57 am (UTC)Well, I'm a bit disappointed, but thrilled too. it's a lovely compliment, but it sucks wieners when it's realism that I'm going for! But no, I agree, if I wanted absolute realism, I could just pick up a camera.
I wonder if Van Gogh was going for realism or if he knew exactly what he was doing. :D
It's funny too, I draw Snape quite a bit, and ALWAYS use Alan Rickman as my model, but I've had lots of people tell me that they like my Snape's because they're so non-Rickman. *eyeroll*
And yes, colour IS backwards on black! *rubs brain* But at least, with this, I could still use my black chalk as a colour. I once did a white pencil on black paper, and had to leave blank, the parts that were black. And also..*rubs brain again* draw the MOST on the parts that were the lightest.
I think my head is still spinning from that one!

Date: 2007-04-13 03:10 am (UTC)I have been up for eighteen hours. Obviously it's starting to show. ;)
If I may step back for a second... You know, I have a habit of getting very excited by other people's artwork. Especially the non-realistic stuff, even if it's meant to be realistic, because I find my own work totally boring. Realism is boring to me. All I'm doing is rendering what's already there. I know that's skewed, but it's just how I feel. So whenever I see stylized, slightly imperfect, vivid, and imaginative art like this, I get very excited. Because I'm seeing YOU.
it's hard to see the artist in something realistic. That's the whole point. It's like hiding. But here, I can see you in this. It's truly amazing.
That's not to say you shouldn't try to improve, and God knows I wouldn't try to tell you how to draw, but I just wanted to let you know that I think you're art is true. And I like it.
And now, after that speech, I will sleep and dream about Chalk Foreman eating strawberries while Wilson and House are having realistic sex in the next room. ;)

Date: 2007-04-13 04:54 am (UTC)Thank you. That means a lot to me, especially coming from you, because I really like your art. I think you are selling yourself short, because you're not just rendering what is there, you're taking characters and making them do stuff! (plus creating your own characters, which just rocks!!)
You make a lot of people happy with your art. Granted, they're just crazy fangirls (present company included). And really, that's a pretty cool thing. You could do a whole bunch of things and never affect people this much.
Have a good, long sleep! I'm going to email you a pic to beta for me, if that's okay. I'm having trouble with a nose. grrrr

Date: 2007-04-13 05:23 am (UTC)They have to be hemmoragic zombies, like from the film 28 Days Later. To go with my kickass HP crossover. Choose from Draco, Kreacher, or the Patil Twins.
Maybe it'll make me finish the fic.

Date: 2007-04-13 05:38 am (UTC)Hemmoragic? I haven't seen 28 days later. I love zombie flicks, but needless to say, with two little ones in the house, I don't get to indulge like I used to. At late at night? I'M DRAWING! :D
If you have a pic, great. If not, I'll google the movie. It obvously has something to do with blood! ;D

Date: 2007-04-14 12:24 am (UTC)I'm so glad you liked him. He's not as 'foreman-y' as I'd like him to be, but I am happy that he at least looks human (and intimidating).
Snogs hon!
