Singing all done! yay!

We arrived at the appointed time, my nerves jangling like cheap jewlery, and um....the guy had double booked himself by mistake, and wasn't in the office. grrr Could I possibly come back in two hours?
So, I took the kids to the museum for a couple of hours, then we headed back to the head office. The guy walks us down the hall, calls the 'other guy' who is the judge, I guess, and we get in the room.
Harrison (my son) announces: "I have to go poopie!"
Me: You can't wait for two minutes?
Harry: no.
Great.
Quincey(my other son):I have to go poopie too!
Me:Oh, I'm just so proud! *snerk*
So we toddle off to the bathroom, do our business, wash our hands and come back.
I don't know if any of you have ever auditioned for something, but the waiting is worse than the actual process. And the waiting? DRAGGING ON FOR FOREVER!!!
So, finally, I beg the kids to STFU for two minutes while I sing, and I belt out the 'funky-but-not-too-funky' version of O Canada that I frankensteined off itunes.
When I finish, they main 'guy' says,: That was nice. You have good tone, but I need you to sing it faster, and to sing it again without any extra flair. If you sing it like you just did, which was nice, you will get booed. People want it to be traditional, so that they can sing along. Sing it again, please.
Me: *throat goes dry* okay.... Jesusfuck! I just spend the last two months learning/tweaking this version and UNLEARNING the traditional one. I'm completely unsure if I can even sing it straight anymore, plus, will the kids actually sit through another version quietly?
Well, I did, and they did, thank god. I got the gig, which is on Thursday.
It's fun to stretch and get out of your comfort zone sometimes, but it's also a colossal, terrifying pain in the ass. *can't wait for Thursday to be over*.
Now....I'm going to draw!
