Look! I made a Snupin!

The lupin_snape comm asked us artists to make a 12 month calander, so we did! (thanks to Lore and her bionic organization skillz)
I did December.

Amazingly adorable!! Very nicely done :D I find fabrics soooo hard to do, the shading, so I have to say I like that part the best on yours, ha. Looks so realistic! And snuggly ^_^

Yours is especially lovely, but the idea itself is really nice. I keep wondering if perhaps the Snarry fandom could get one together and possibly sell them and give the proceeds to charity or something. Though I imagine just doing it as a fandom service is a good idea.

It's such a shame I can't stand Lupin because the Snupin people seem like some of the nicest people in HP fandom. Not that the Snarry people suck, but I think, in general, we're lazier. Snupin people as a group seem more willing to pimp, to comment, to encourage, to really grow their corner of fandom. Maybe I'd actually see more bitchers and whiners if I spent more (or actually any) time in the Snupin fandom, but from an outsider's perspective that's what I see.

Um, yeah, loved the boys peeking out from under the sheets. I have a thing for characters cuddled up in bedsheets together.

Ummm, hello. I don't usually break in on other people's comments, but I wanted to point out a couple things that could be helpful. I hope you won't see it as pushy or impertinent, but I understand how tough it is to come up with ideas and to keep people enthusiastic and motivated. If you want to take these ideas to Snarry, please do! It's not like we haven't borrowed ideas from other ships ourselves. *g*

Oh, and I'm definitely not trying to convert you to Snupin. ~_^

Two-Year Snupin Calendar for print
This is actually the print version of a Snupin calendar. We made a PDF file in several formats and it's free for anyone to download. It's two years because I didn't have the heart to turn anyone down, but if you ever go for a print calendar, I highly recommend doing one year. The cost on printing a full-colour, two-year calendar at a place like Kinkos was going to be about $40. Bleh!

Also, I would stick to the January-December year. Ours runs mid-year to mid-year because we were so anxious to have it, but it leaves a gap....

Snupin Desktop Calendar for 2009

...which we covered this year by making the desktop calendar. The piece Tripper is showing is meant to be the background for a computer desktop....although, hey, if someone has a printer and wants to print it, it might look all right, although we didn't ask for high-res art for this project like we did for the print calendar. It does help with print projects if you have a few graphic designers around.

I think Snarry could totally do a desktop calendar at any time, starting maybe even now with someone quickly converting an existing art into desktop sizes with a calendar on it, and assigning someone to finish a piece for February in time for posting on the first. Get artists for the others months and let them work from now to mid-February and post the rest maybe on the first of each month for the rest of the year.

It would take some recruiting and coordination, and a mod willing to be sure to post the art on the first each month (or all at once, hey, whatever works), but we pulled ours together in less than two months (and during the fest season, too!). I've always thought that Snarry had a lot of artists, and I know plenty of our "Snupin Regulars" occasionally draw for Snarry as well. Anyway it's something to consider.

Just be sure to return them all for our Bigger, Longer and Uncut in April (our version of a Big Bang - see us steal!). *g*

Thank you also, for noticing the efforts that go into the Snupin side of fandom. It was really nice to read, even though I doubt you meant for me to come over here and babble at you. But I thought you should know, I was chatting with a friend and showed her your comment. We both had a laugh because we see Snarry as close-knit and having lots of stuff going on!

Anyway, I'm going to slink off now. Feel free to ignore my cheer-leading up there, too, I promise I won't be hurt or secretly cursing Snarry over it. What works for one ship might not work for another, I know.

Hee! Not a problem and I appreciate the information. Though I think I have more of a fundraiser personality than I do a mod personality. I suppose I was thinking of a charity event along the lines of livelongnmarry. Something that most of my flist could get behind and wanted to actively support without it costing a lot of money but still get something awesome in return. It's definitely something to keep in mind for the future. I personally don't even own Photoshop, but I think I could enlist the help of some graphic artist friends for charity.

As for Snarry people, well, however it came across, I wasn't saying that the Snarry side of fandom isn't filled with friendly, talented, and generous people. Because it has all three in spades. But especially in the are of commenting and reccing, we're behind the Snupin people. I include myself here, since it's been ages since I did a rec post that wasn't specifically for something made for me. I think that's because I tend to assume that everyone on my flist has already read/seen anything I'd have to rec, so I just don't say anything at all. And although I do comment, there is still room for improvement.

Anyway, thank you for the information and the food for thought. The calendar is awesome. *hugs back*

There are certainly enough Snarry artists to make a calendar! Hell, there's enough Snarry Games art to make 10 calendars. Ask the artists, and I'm sure you'd find 12 or more that would be willing to donate their work for a charity calendar.

Oh, absolutely. But my brain likes to think in terms of themes or projects and I'd want to change the idea a little so it would look less like blatant stealing. As for charities, I really wish this had come up for livelongnmarry. It was a cause pretty much everyone on my flist supported and it would have been a way for everyone to contribute and still get something awesome and actually potentially useful in return.
