I didn't forget how to draw!

Man alive, I feel like I've had NO time for artz lately. :( I took my schtuff with me to Florida, but nothing really came of it.

I started this pic before I left, and just finished it last night. It's my final contribution to the hp_artproject. Have I mentioned yet what a cool project that is? And how thrilled and honoured I am to be a part of it?

Anyhoo, since I'm much better at portraits and um ... not so much better at action scenes, here is a portrait from book 5. I forget the name of the chapter I was assigned, but basically NOTHING happens in it. Harry is on trial for using under aged magic (when repelling the dementors in Little Winging) and this is his first introduction to Umbridge.
It turned out okay, but sadly, the pic is almost as boring as the chapter.

I'll tidy it up and give it quotes and a border, but this is the basic 'meat' (if you'll excuse the expression) of the pic. The photo was a bit washed out due to over lighting, and I really had to crank the contrast just so you could see anything. I'll take a much better photo for the actual submission, plus highlight the little bow in her hair.




I hope to have some more art to post soon. I have a Snarry sketch that's half done, and the next Iceman Cometh to finishing inking and colour.

Yaaaaay 8D *So happy you're back* I know how that is, everytime I go for a trip of any sort...from a convention weekend hours away or just to a friend's house overnight I ALWAYS bring art supplies and rarely get a thing done @_@

Oh, she's really perfect. I keep expecting that toad-like mouth to snap open and grab a passing fly. This is probably the best non-cartoonish Umbridge I've seen. She looks like a real person that I can see teaching DADA to students without letting them use their wands. Great job!

Perfect toady witch you've got here! I bet JKR gets a big kick out of it when she sees it because there's nothing like seeing your characters brought to life so vividly. Her insipid smile is enough to chill the hearts of the bravest student. Great job!

I really wasn't happy with the way they cast her in the movie. The woman did a fine job of acting, but she really didn't 'look' like the Umbridge in my head. In fact, when I was assigned this chapter, I realized that it wasn't just me. She really didn't look like how JKR described her either.

The one I'm unhappy with now is the actress cast as Narcissa Malfoy. Waaaay too old and with a skunk hairdo. She's got that sunken eye thing going on that women get around their 50th or later.
