So Quincey (my five year old) and I were sitting around having tea, and he asks me;

Q:Mama? I don't think anything rhymes with September.

Me: Uh ... November? December?

Q: *laughs* Oh yeah, I guess so.

Me: But nothing rhymes with orange.

Q: *thinks for about a second* How 'bout Four Inch?

Me: *Says it a few times to try it on.* OMG! You are the first person ever to find something that rhymes with orange!

Q: *shrugs and goes to watch Spongebob*

Me: *iz still boggled*

At first I smiled, because I thought the point was that he's cute because it sounds nothing like orange at all.

Then I remember y'all speak with different accents over there, so maybe to you it does sound the same?

*iz also boggled*

How the heck do you guys say orange??

Yes, it totes rhymes here.

By the way, I 'dated' an Ozzie once, and I just LOVED the way he said nectarine.

We say NECK TURRINE and he said NIKTRIN :D

Hee, we say orange the same way as you (I think), with the emphasis on the first syllable; it's the four inch part we probably say differently. Do you run the words together? I say "for inch".

We would say 'four inch' with about the same emphasis on both words, and Orange with the emphasis on the Or, but if your fudge the emphasis with four inch and run it a bit together (like you often would when rhyming things) then it really does sound similar.

Not perfect, of course but closer than anything else I've ever heard.
