I've done my donation to unicef for help_haiti, but I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO A SCREEN CAP!

My 'new' laptop (a year old) has the most cryptic keyboard. All sorts of goofy symbols of whothefuckknows. There IS a prt sc button, which I assume is print screen, but it's written below HOME and it's inside a box. What does that mean? I've tried shift, ctrl AND alt, with no luck. grrr

Crisis averted. I got a confirmation email that I can forward.

Thanks for your tips, though, and I"ll faff around for a while so I don't have this problem in the future. :D

Do you have an Fn key? Sometimes if you hit that first, you can access the stuff written under? What brand of keyboard is it, maybe I can look it up and take a look at it and then make wild crazy suggestions. :D

I DO have an fn key. Obviously I have all sorts of stuff I have never tried.

I love this laptop, but they keys are sort of a muted gold/bronze colour, and the writing on them is white and light blue and it's pretty much IMPOSSIBLE to read anything on the keys! *eyeroll*

Anyway, the crisis is averted, because Unicef sent me a confirmation email. (I wasn't sure if they would) So I can send that to help_haiti and/or my auction person.

Thanks for the tip though. Obviously, I should still figure out HOW to do a screencap. I'll play around with that Fn key. :D

HEEEEE don't worry, I never learned to use my Fn key, but I remember some other computer whiz was like "oh here --" and then hit that and suddenly could do a whole bunch of other cool-ass stuff with my laptop...and then I never did it again. LOL.

I'm such a dinosaur - nice, shiny technology and I'm just like "WHERE'S THE 'CLASSIC' OPTION, I WANT EVERYTHING THE SAME AS IT'S BEEN FOR TEN YEARS." XD

Google brandname laptop screencap?

like, Acer laptop screencap

and see what you get? Likely things that will come up: fora in which people ask the same question, which can be annoying to wade through, but often you wind up at the right answer.

Ha! I often find 'help' pages more confusing that just shutting the thing off and having a nap.

I even found an 'email this page' button, but then it asked me all sorts of questions (POP sumthin' sumthin') that I didn't know how to answer.

I AM A LUDDITE!

Thank you though!

Oh the joy of the fn key XD

I only knew where it was, because the super complicated programmable Calculators we had to buy for school used to have second and even third meanins for almost every single tiny button, which is why, when I saw the blue stuff, I went looking for a blue key called "2nd" but ended up with fn instead.

Glad you received an email either way.

Thank god for the email! I was terrified that I would delete or navigate away from the donation page, and then all my proof would be lost!

GOD I HATE TECHNOLOGY! Or it hates me ...

The other thing I do (because yeah...Luddite in this corner, too) is click on File (in the browser) and then "Save page as" (selecting html). What you're saving then is the whole page, looking as it does in your browser, which you can then send as an attachment.

So ... it saves the page as like a jpeg type file? cool! I had no idea.

Honestly, this is just a nice typerwriter that has porny pictures on it.

I am a staunch feminist until my laptop kakks out, then I turn into a snivelly damsel in distress. Good thing hubby is a former programmer! :D
