My kids are watching UP again, and it made me cry. AGAIN. A LOT.

WTF Disney/Pixar? Why do you fuck with me like this? IN THE FIRST TEN MINUTES!!

Imagine my embarrassment when I cried in the movie theater. Glad the 3D glasses helped to hide it!

I had no 3D glasses to hide my shame. :D My kids were like WUT? WTF are you crying???

Why do you fuck with me like this?

Yes! The evil empire built on the tears of sappy women!

forever shall they rule!

ugh, I know. I was bawling my eyes out for that whole first bit, and again later on for some of the heartbreakingly accurate dog stuff.
Every time I show that movie to someone who hadn't yet seen it they glare at me with tear-filled, accusing eyes, wondering how I could subject them to that first ten minutes of film.

Date: 2010-05-07 07:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com
YES! After I got over the initial bawling stage, I was INDIGNANT that they would do this to me. I UNDERSTAND CRYING AT THE END OF THE FILM, BUT THE BEGINNING? This is unheard of and horribly unfair!

Oh my. The sobbing this movie induced!

Well thank God I'm not the only wuss out there! My children are still bewildered at why I would cry. She was OLD they say. :D

I think it's because their relationship is so much like my grandparents' that it breaks my heart!

It really is hard to watch that. I watched it with my parents, so we were ALL teary-eyed thinking of my grandpa and how hard it was for him. I think one of the reasons it was so impactful for adults is that many people have had family death experiences that relate to it. Supposedly it's healthy though to see it onscreen as a cartoon. Healthy release tears or something. IDK.

Nope. I am just a giant sucky-baby and obviously have waaaay to much empathy for CARTOON CHARACTERS.

And yes, healthy release tears. I cry at the happy parts too. There is obviously something very wrong with me.

Me!!!! I cried too in the theatre (thoroughly embarrassing my children). We haven't bought it yet. I can't imagine the copious tears that will flow if I do in the comforts of my own living room.

Wasn't the first time Pixar has done that to me, though. I STILL cry everytime Jesse sings "When Somebody Loved Me" in Toy Story2.

OMG! Jesse's song totally undid me too!

I don't recall the last time I cried at something REAL, but cartoon characters have a strange power over me. Or, at least PIXEL does.

I got a bit choked up at Bolt too.

Bolt! Oh, that was a good one. We rarely see a movie in the theatres more than once (then wait for the DVD if we love it) but we loved "Bolt" so much we went back...three times!

Have you seen "How to Tame Your Dragon"? It ROCKS!! My favorite Dreamworks movie now. Sick of Shrek.

From: [identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com
Ha! Yeah, we saw Bolt twice in the theatre, and once more in the 'cheap' theatre before we bought the movie.

We also saw Princess and the Frog twice.

No, I havent' seen how to tame your dragon, but I've heard good things about it. Maybe I'll take the kids there this week.

Say, you gonna join us over at hump_day_smut? I *think* I sent you an invite ages ago. I'll do it again, just in case.

I can't make it through the first opening scenes. I've not managed to finish the movie. I also bawled through the opening of Wall-E, never finished that either. Just how alone and depressing the future looked.. Oh! Toy Story 2, that song makes me sob like a baby, too!

Pixar is trying to make us weak at the kneeeees.... Or I'm becoming more emotional as I age. Probably the latter.

The theatres must put hormones in the popcorn or something!

Wall-E didn't do much for me, but we were a couple minutes late seeing that, and I missed the beginning.

Toy Story 2? Oh yeah, that one's a killer!

I KNOW RIGHT?? That first part is just like. HOMMMMGGGGGG. I wonder if kids find it as emotional as adults do??

From: [identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com
No. They don't. They think I'm bat-shit insane and mock me. MY SEVEN YEAR OLD AND EIGHT YEAR OLD MOCK ME!

Are you gonna crrrryyyy now mom? Are you crying NAOW?
