This one was done using posed Snarry dolls. Sadly, there were no dolls posing for the first one. :(
And finally, the base line art from my Draw Your Own Snarry Tutorial (which was a godforsaken disaster on so many levels.)
I had requested AV equipment that was a live feed overhead display. Very much like the overhead projectors of yore, but because they are digital, you don't need to use a tranparency, you can draw on regular paper, and by magical, mystical zip a dee doo da, the image appears on the big screen. (uh. .. just like the machine that I used for my Colour your own Snape workshop at Azkatraz)
I was assured there would be one there. Then, when the drama of me not going to the con (due to work related shitstorms), I contacted the peeps at Infinitus, to tell them I would infact be going, and oh, did I mention that I needed this magical contraption? Yes, they assured me that I HAD requested it, and that it would be there.
Do I need to tell you that it wasn't? Well, it wasn't.
There was an AV thing, but it was a hook it up to your computer type thing. I draw with a pencil.
My 'prefect' was a pretty damn cute cos-play Snape, and he did his best to find me the right stuff, but sadly, it was not to be. So ... how do I show an 800 square foot room the minute details of shading on a 8.5x11 piece of paper?
I ran to the art gallery's drawble tables and ripped off one of their large easel type sheets, ran back to the room and 'sketched' a quick rendition of my tutorial Harry.
Then, I used stickers to 'tape' it to the wall and proceeded to teach the class fine details by using massive huge strokes. *sigh*
Did I also mention that the table to chair ratio was inadequate? Even though I had spoken to someone about it the day before?
Did I also mention that at the same time as my scheduled workshop, 99% of the con was attending A Very Potter Sequel? (which I had never even heard of before, because I am old and not cool.)
Oh well. It worked out anyway. I had around 30 people show up, which was a pleasant surprise. And the people who DID show up were lovely and fun and very understanding of the multiple snafoos. I honestly was expecting 5 or less, due to the show that was on. The person who had booked the room before me cancelled, because she didn't think anyone would show up.
/rant I'm over it now. No, really I am.

Date: 2010-08-03 02:23 am (UTC)My #1 biggest issue had to do with AV at the con. The
The same issue occurred during the FanVid show, which also started a good 15 minutes late as it's impossible to show vids without a projector, screen and speakers.
I even think some of their big events such as the Friday night performance were hampered by AV problems.
I suggested that the hotel and con organizers place extra staff on this issue next time as so many of the presentations are contingent upon attendees hearing and seeing what the presenters/performers are doing.

Date: 2010-08-03 02:39 am (UTC)They moved the time of one of my dance rehearsals without informing anyone but me. So I had to dance for three hours because I recruited people until the time it was actually supposed to start, then I taught all the people that showed up at the time it was supposed to be.

Date: 2010-08-05 04:24 am (UTC)The three hours of dance, plus my dumb ass thinking a lungebreak would be funny to do for about 10 minutes the previous weekend, equals my legs were rubber.

Date: 2010-08-03 10:15 pm (UTC)And I had never heard of A Very Potter Musical either, and I'm 19, I guess we are lame together. I checked it out after the con though, very funny.

Date: 2010-08-05 04:13 am (UTC)I checked out your Harry, and it really IS good! His head looks shaved though! :D :D
Just remember to drag the lines into the center of the highlight, keeping the strokes from dark on the outside to lighter on the inside of that light part.

Date: 2010-08-04 02:50 am (UTC)Honestly VPS was the big draw for me coming to my first ever con, but once I saw the line and the rest of the formal programming I decided that I could always watch VPS on the internet when I got home and was better off going to all the programming I could. I'm very glad I got to come to yours! :D

Date: 2010-08-05 04:15 am (UTC)I don't begrudge the VPS, it just would have been nice if they'd been scheduled AFTER the formal programming, not during. I'm sure attendance was down all over that day.
