Luddite Question about my iPod

Okay. I'm so dumb when it comes to tech stuff.

My hubby used my laptop to download some stuff on HIS iPod, and now all his music is on MY iTunes library.

I tried just un-checking his music, but it still all appears when I synch. I went though and left clicked and DELETED all his music, and yet. ... THERE IT IS AGAIN! Both in the library and on my iPod.

HOW DO I FIX THIS SHIT?

Thanks in advance!

Do you just listen to music on your computer or do you have an iPod too? Because if it's the latter, you can resynch your iTunes/Library from your iPod. Don't try it yet...just realize you needn't despair!!!

Ha! No, for some ungodly reason, I can't get the sound to work on my laptop. :( (a whole nuther tech help-me post)

I have an iPhone, and that's what I'm trying to synch to.
It will upload new songs that I download, it just won't let me get rid of old songs. And there are like ... 40 of them! grrrrrr

Help me Obi Wan!

Don't know if this will help but give it a try. I've had to do this when adding movies to my iPod. When the Library comes up you can uncheck things BUT when I connect my iPod I have to click on THAT button/icon on the left side. It's the button indicating that my iPod is connected. A window comes up with tabs on it: Music/Video/Pictures, etc. I have to go to each tab and check to make sure what I want is included. You can click "include all music" or just the ones you want from the library. Same thing with movies. I have to make sure that I click at this tab to get something new added to my iPod. When you're done, down at the bottom right is a button that says "Apply". That will re-sync your iPod.

As far as getting it out of your library, somewhere there is a thingy where it says "share library". You may need to uncheck that. OR delete his music:).

yes! clicking on the icon of my iphone, and checking that tab did it. Thanks!

As for deleting ... I still have no idea. But hey, as long as they don't show up on my ipod, I don't care. :D

Great! That was a trail and error thing that I found out when things I was uploading didn't show up on my iPod. Glad I could help.

when you're hooked up to your ipod/iphone, click on the little icon for your device, then click the music tab. there should be an option to only synch selected songs, so if you've unchecked his music, it shouldn't load onto your device. Hope this helps!!!

Yes! That was it! Thank you!

I work in tech and I am a luddite. I dont own an ipod. No reason too until the CD player breaks.

When you get in these messes. Try yahoo search for things like cant get sound..(are the speakers turned on? do you need speakers? are they wired correctly? is power at the outlet? etc..etc..)

[identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com 2010-09-06 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Do you take your CD player around with you? And jog with it? ;D

My hubby is a tech guy, and he can't figure out why the sound stopped working. grrrr

Jog? what hell is jogging? LOL

But I do take it outside to garden. I dont play music while I am on the computer

If you have the newest version of itunes, and you want to only synch certain songs and move songs to and from your ipods without it doing that for you, you must un-click the "manually manage music and videos" box in your iPod in iTunes.

So after you've connected your iPod, open iTunes, then click on your iPod name in the left-hand menu and the Summary tab will open. Then scroll down below where it says what version of iTunes you have on your iPod, to where it says "options" and you have to check the manually manage button in addition to synch only checked songs, etc. Otherwise, it won't let you do anything yourself.

sorry, you have to CLICK that button for manually manage music and videos. DUR!!
