So, our cat Milky Wave? He went missing. :(

We don't let him outside for obvious reasons. (deaf, half blind, seizures etc) but Saturday afternoon, me and the kids went: hey! I haven't seen Milky for a while!
We searched the house, and then, fearing the worst, checked the swimming pool. (he almost drown once already.) Nope. No Milky. (or Moo, as we call him)

We are super careful about keeping the doors closed (due to him) and even though we couldn't think of how he might have gotten out, we searched the yard and surrounding areas. Nothing. I even checked the highway for 'bodies' and thank god, no.

After a sleepless night of worrying, I got up early, printed out some Lost Kitty posters to put up at the post office and surrounding area, and we re-scoured the yard.

Then, before heading out, I took a quick bathroom break. Whist reading my Oprah mag, I heard some odd banging. But it was really windy out, and I chalked it up to the wind. Then, I heard the distintive Prrrrrrr??? of The Moo. WTF??

HE WAS IN THE HEATING DUCTS IN OUR HOUSE! Or more specifically, the space AROUND the heating ducts. I swear to God, he is the oddest cat in the history of cattdom. And dumbest.

But man, I was so relieved. He would NOT survive outside for long.

Yay!

We figure he has used at least 7 of his nine supposed lives.

I"ll keep you all updated.
Edit: ha! Perhaps I won't post all of my phone numbers all over the interwebz. duh

Ha ha, yes! Good, you took the phone numbers off! ♥

1. Damn, your children are so beautiful. Again.

2. I'm really happy your poor stupid cat is OK.

Hee! I DID post it with the numbers, and yeah ... I'm all about full disclosure, but ... not that much.

Thank you! *I* think they're darling, but I'm supposed to, right?

And yeah, I was pretty damn sure he was gone for good. How could he sit in the walls ALL NIGHT and not make a sound??

Adding my "hell, yeah" to your kids being gorgeous.

Heating ducts? That's a new one on me, and I thought I'd had cats that got everywhere possible in a house. Moo is a very special cat, I can tell.

schemingreader put it best: I'm also really happy your poor stupid cat is OK.

My mum's poor stupid cat got into the crawl space once. He didn't feel like coming out. Not that he was scared or hiding, it was just "nahh, I'm good here." My mum had to go under there and get him.

yeah, I don't think Milky was distressed. He might have held out for a few more days if I hadn't heard him banging around. *eyeroll*

Yes! There is a small hole in the laundry room where we re-routed the venting. Of course, we've been in this house for 6 years, with cats and never had this problem before.

Milky is spayshul.

Oh wow, I'm so glad you found him! Cats get in the darndest places, and then they SIT there for days and don't make a sound. And then...they purr!?

I do love that pic of the three of them. Wot? I've given your phone numbers to someone just last week...he sorta looked like Dexter. :)

Date: 2010-09-27 10:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com
He doesn't purr. (ever) but he makes this cute little burrrrrr?? (higher at the end, like it's a question). He also doesn't meow. Just that odd sound.

Dexter? Cool! Perhaps he'll sit and watch season one with me. I bought it and still haven't taken it out of the shrink-wrap.

Wow. So glad you found him and he hadn't made it outside. Heating ducts? ::snort:: Cats are entirely too good at giving us frustrations and scares like that, aren't they?

And that photo is awesome! XD

Hee, thanks!

HE is a pro at making us worry. I"m quite sure he will eventually find some horrible, grotesque way to die. I just hope it isn't for many, many years.

I haven't had the heating duct problem, but one of the litters my mom's cat had were moved by the mama into the heating duct. To this day I have no idea how she got them in there. Thank the deities that I heart their mewling before the heat was turned on.

ha! Cats love to give birth in the oddest places!

I was quite relieved to find out he was in the wall, and not the ducts themselves. He's a big cat, and it would have been a hell of a squeeze!

I'm pretty sure there's some version of murphy's law that applies to cats getting lost. I won't even mention the time my entire family (most of who are cat owners) went on a 2 hour hunt inside and outside, for a cat that turned out to be on a dinning room chair.

I'm really glad you found him! He must have been hungry!

I thought for a while that he might be sleeping somewhere obvious, but after searching the house two and three times (plus hubby and the kids searching too) I was sure that he'd gotten outside.

He is very playful. I can't beleive it took almost 20 hours to finally HEAR him.
