Gishwhes with a zamboni!
Nov. 12th, 2012 11:52 pmUsing a zamboni and dyes, make a frowny face on an ice rink.
( sad ice is sad )
This one wasn't terribly hard to get. Quincey played hockey last year, so I was somewhat familiar with the fellow who runs the local rink, and he was fairly accepting of this request. The problem was that we needed the ice to be pretty chewed up (for the face to show well), but have enough time between ice times that we didn't take time away from a team or practice who had rented the ice.
So an hour before taking the kids out trick or treating, I was running around the rink like a madman trying to get a decent photo. That was the hard part! I had to get far enough away to get the face in the shot, but the entire rink is surrounded by netting, and while that is great for not getting a puck to the face, it's horrible for getting a picture of the ice! There's even a ball room on the second floor with windows, but there's netting up there AND the windows also have that criss-crossed wire in them, so that was a complete no-go.
I really need a camera that can zoom out more. *sigh* Oh well, not a great photo (taken on a ladder on the ice!!) but it gets the point across.
