Pointless rant

I have a bunch of shit in my rl that is bogging me down and making me grumpy, so in the true spirit of being a bully, I'm going to shit on some defenseless people in the form of a rant.

Please keep in mind, this is just me blowing off steam. These are just my (stupid) opinions, and you are welcome to disagree with me, and we can still even be friends, even if we don't happen to think exactly alike.

Poser programs. What the ever fucking hell? This is not art, and should NEVER be submitted as art anywhere. The people look fake and creepy and I HATE looking at them. Are they fun to play with? Hell, I don't know. Is it difficult to ... do whatever you do to them (pick hair colour and clothes??) probably. Are they art? NO, NO THEY ARE NOT.
I don't mind if you like them, I don't mind if you enjoy playing with them, but it burns my ass when I'm looking at dA or Y!gallery and see creepy naked sims people instead of actual art. I wouldn't even mind if you posted them, just don't post them as art.

I have similar feelings (albeit less rabid) about photoshopping. I really think they need a different tag, because they are a different animal. I don't even mind looking at them, but I hate opening up something that I think is a drawing ,when it's a photomanipulation.
I know they are hard to make, and do take a certain amount of skill and talent, but THEY'RE NOT ART! (in the 'drawing' sense.) They should be labelled as such.

furries Again, I don't get it. I have some wonderful lovely furries on my list, and I love them to bits. BUT I DON'T GET IT! I really just ... I don't see why you would want to put a tail on a person. Or big fluffy ears. Or ... yanno, tits on a squirrel. *snorfle*
You are a funny bunch, but at least you are mostly lovely people.

I have similar feelings about wings. I would like to fly as much as the next person, but I have never been compelled to draw wings on people. Perhaps its a branch of furry? ;) I don't mind that people do it, and some really do it well, I just ... dont' think their shirts would fit very well. And you could never lay on your back ... or uh .. drive in a car.

I'm not judging here. (yeah, okay, I totally am) but not in a "I'm better than you" way, just in a ... wtf kind of way. it's like .. pumpkin pie and egg nog. They are viable foods, but I DON'T GET WHY PEOPLE LIKE THEM. Why would you even TRY to drink something called Egg Nog? *iz baffled*

Or country music. Okay, I won't even GO there. Yokels need entertainment too. Esp since they can't read.

And sure, there are lots of people (I'm sure) who wonder, "WTH is tripperfunster thinking? Why does she draw a man fellating a platypus? How much gay/squicky/old man art can one person endure?" I get that I like things that other people find horrifying and possibly illegal. And they are welcome to rant about it in their journals. :D but totes link me so I can cry butthurt, m'kay?

Okay, I'm done. See? I feel better now. And you probably do too. Unless, of course, you are one of the people that I just crapped on. Please to realize that I love you, despite your horrible taste in art/music/food. I really do! diversity is what makes the world go 'round. Well, that and porn, of course.

Edit: Okay, looking back over this, it comes across much meaner than I've intended. I'm really trying to be tongue in cheek and not just nasty. Try to read it with a goofy sarcastic lilt. Or drink lots of booze first. It will help.

Edit the second: OMG OC's! I forgot to rant about OC's. Again, write/draw them if you like them, but don't expect me to read/look at them. CANNOT STAND THEM! Thinly veild self inserts.

Oh! Oh! One moar! Humanizing animal/anthropomorphic characters. I've mostly seen this in Phineas and Ferb (making Perry a human instead of a platypus) and in Megamind, making Minion a person instead of a fish. WHYYYYY? And then have them making out/sexing someone. WHHHHYYYYYYYY? Heinz doesn't recognize Perry without his frickin' HAT! He's sure as hell never going to realize this new, green haired man/boy is his nemesis.

Must admit that I share a lot of your confusion about furry and wings and stuff - and I also agree 100% that photomanips are very clever but don't belong in the same category as art that people have actually made themselves from scratch. I get that they can require a lot of skill, but it's a different skill - so, if you wouldn't judge a drawing against, say, a piece of knitting or a well-baked cake, you shouldn't judge it against a photomanip either.

In fact I'm with you just about everywhere but the country music, which I must confess I sometimes enjoy. (Although not always!)

Oddly enough I LOOK LIKE SHIT in that Spock hat. ;) I am such a natural blonde (and don't wear much make up) that it makes me look like an ugly corpse.

The hat is great, of course, but I'd have to actually give myself eyebrows and eyeliner and lipstick to wear it in public.

I did wear it around the yard, of course, BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME. :D My horses thought i was totes cool.

As for Minion, my son appropriated him, and wore him every day for six weeks. He is now awaiting a little eye surgery, to re-affix them. They haven't fallen off, but they're getting loose.

I did post pics of the Minion hat in the megamind_movie forum. I'll look though the tags and see if I can find them.

Gosh, you might defriend me for so many reasons, such as liking eggnog, country music, and the face that I have turned many of the HP characters into furry creatures with my WizardBear series over on IJ. Do you recall the art I did for the "Back to Hogwarts" fest with the bears in the rainbow backpack? That has taken on a life of its own and several art pieces have followed it. ;) Yes, I have turned the Potter characters into teddy bears. But very tongue in cheek stuff mostly.

If you want (so you don't have to deal with IJ) and you are curious, I can email some to you. The Severus with the Harry!Bear stuck in his bed and him glowering at it is pretty funny. I'm working on a new piece right now where I'm introducing Draco!Bear.

I'm with you on the Poser art. I'm fine with its existence, but like photomanips are called 'photomanips' or even 'graphic art', I think Poser art needs to stay in its own separate category, like. '3D model art'? But then that might confuse it with actual 3D model art (ie modeling in 3D, which takes skill and technique, since model is built from scratch) and...I dunno. I just, it's so UGH. The characters are soulless and creep me the fuck out. All the scenes are just a collection of random decorations and sterile characters with impossible limbs and that just ain't sexy, dammit! (I say 'sexy' because usually Poser art is explicit adult scenes...for some reason.)
