Okay, I was not happy with my RDJ scratchboard pic of a couple of days ago, so here it is, re-done. OMG so much better! Far from perfect, of course, but this time I took a damn RULER and measured. Okay ... his eye is like ... 3 cm long, and the other eye is 2.5 cm away from it ... bla bla bla. Generally, that's what I do just by eyeballing, but with no eraser to fix things, I can't just rely on my eyes alone. At least, at this point.







I think that the 'trick' with scratchboard is NOT over drawing. I tend to over do things too much, esp noses, and then they lose their dimension. Plus, I drew this image on a larger piece of paper, and thus it has more 'room' around it, giving it a darker frame, and therefore a reference ... in space? DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE? No, probably not.

There are things I really like about both, actually! I like the amount of contrast in the first version, but I think the nose looks more properly sculpted in the second. Randomly, I adore the brightness of the waterline of the eyes on both.

I definitely think Synn would come. We've talked about it a bit. I've never been to it before, but I remember Meri talking about it. Here's the CON,TXT site if you want to browse around it. It's not an HP specific con, just a general slashers one. I've wanted to go for a few years. It's Friday and Saturday night in the hotel; then I thought we'd spend Sunday night at my brother's, depending on what Synn's plans are. You would love my brother!
