Con.TXT anyone? /loose reptiles / facebook announcement

I am seriously thinking about attending con.txt in DC in June. (multi-fandom slash convention) Is anyone else planning on going? Has anyone else ever attended? WILL YOU PROMISE TO BE MY BUDDY AND HOLD MY HAND WHILE I'M THERE? I've only ever gone to HP conventions, some big, and some small, and I once spent about an hour at a comic.con here in Winnipeg.

Hubby and I can't quite decided on whose fault it is TOTALLY HIS FAULT but we now have a five foot long milk snake loose in the house somewhere. I have looked and looked, but there are multiple places to hide. It's not the first snake we've lost, and the other one turned up so .... yeah. At least my mom won't come to visit any time soon! :D

Funny story: We once had a very small King Snake (ha! I totes typed SNAPE!!) get loose in our store. It was missing for over a month, and I suppose it was getting hungry, so it slithered into one of our finch cages and ATE A FINCH, but was then so fat that it couldn't fit through the bars to get out. Hoisted by his own petard.

Facebook: I AM NOT ON FACEBOOK. I have enough time wasting media (read porn) to slog through every day, and don't really want to add another. But yet, I opened an account a few years ago, because a friend was worried about her son on there, yadda yadda, so anyway, I have an account, but NEVER go there. Just today I realized that I have a bunch of friend requests (from rl and fandom.) Please don't be insulted that i didn't accept/friend you back. I don't do it for anyone, because I'm not actually one there.

I have never heard of con.txt, buy it sounds interesting. But I am going on vacation in May, then going to a different con in late July, so I don't know if sticking something in the middle there is the best idea. :/ Maybe if it's cheap, and I'd have someone to room with...

Oops, forgot to tell all about it: VERY FUN. Obviously the organizers include introverts because there are a lot of opportunities to hang out by yourself away from crowds. :) Panels are fun (kind of academic, which I adore; interesting opinions discussed in an organized way, AWESOME), vid show is fun. Dance party is fun: opportunity to dress in costume or dress up if that's your thing (a lot of ladies not afraid to put their breasts on display), or you can dress down and no one will sneer. It's mostly women, and the guys who attend know the women are running the show. For a middle-aged lady like me, it was a welcome experience to be in a room and not have it assumed that the man was going to lead.

OMG, it's over my long weekend between terms for school! And only like a three hour drive! Must scrounge up some money for this! If I can afford it I am definitely going, it's been so long since I went to Yaoicon and I need another infusion of rabid fangirls.

Con.txt =YES! I will def be there- it's near me, and my only con this year. I won't be staying at the hotel, but I def want to see you. Also, I have a spare bed here in PA, so if you did go and wanted to extend your trip to come see nowheresville, that would be cool (I know someone else near here would like to see you too).

*bounces* I have been and it's an awesome con! Very small and intimate so you go for the company, the panels, the friends. It's only a couple of hours from my house, and though I'm not planning on going for the weekend, I would definitely drive up to see you, if you come in!

Sorry, I can't help thinking about the episode of Studio 60 where the snake got loose under the studio floor ... I think it's Part One of The Harriet Dinner ... which is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. And there are so many lovely places where snakes can hide ...

Yes, we did find him. One night, something woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep, so I came out to the living room and was looking at porn surfing the web, and heard this strange *crinkle crinkle* sound. I went to investigate, and it was Megamind (the snake). He was slithering over an uninflated foil balloon! I'm sure I wouldn't have heard it during the day, but in the quiet of night, he was like a trampling elephant! :D

The last time we lost a snake, it was gone for a month, then FELL OUT OF THE SKY and landed on my husband and bit him! :D Okay, maybe not the sky, but it fell from above him. Door jamb? We're not sure, but I laughed my ass off when he told me. :D
