I find it oddly hilarious that Crab Nuggets was 47 pages, and this one will be 48. Both were totally unplanned, as per plotlines, and yet I seem to have a set story telling length. Any writers out there find that? That you seem to often tell the same length of tale, regardless of story line?

Well, I'll never say never, but honestly? Kid!fic is really not my thing.

I've certainly read and enjoyed the odd one, but the internet is for fun and fantasy, and I HAVE kids. I love them dearly, but this is my escape from them! :D

Yes, for a while there I almost always wrote stories in the 48-54,000 word bracket. It varies a lot more now because I'm doing some much longer stuff too, but I went through a space of about five years or more where everything turned out roughly the same length.

No, I don't do short-short stuff at all, but I do occasionally do something in the 5,000 - 10,000 word bracket as a gift fic. The most recent was just under 12,000 words at the end of last year.

I actually have set myself a minimum word count for my fanfic chapters, at least 1300 words. Longer chapters are too much for some people and shorter chapters just don't seem to convey enough information.
