Ugh, this has been a really crappy year for pets dying. First the Hogrid the pig and then Milky Wave, and we've had a fox taking out our ducks and chickens one by one. Then yesterday, my husband was moving the car into the garage and our goose (Dr. D) dashed out to attack the car and hubby ran over him. Poor hubby just feels awful, but obviously it wasn't his fault. *sigh* I really loved that stupid evil goose.
On the bright side, we seem to have aquired a new pet. A couple of weeks ago one of the puppies at our store broke his leg. (Exact details are still sketchy, but it would seem that a volunteer dropped him by mistake.) So, after a visit to the vet $$$ and a splint, I brought him home to heal up. And, of course, there is NO WAY I can bring an animal home for any amount of time and then not keep him! The kids have been begging for a new dog ever since Harley died (two? Three? years ago) and they are thrilled to death with this little guy. Of course, they wanted something big, like a Great Dane or Golden Retriever, but this little PomXJapanese Chin will just have to do.

Naming him was really hard! I have no idea why, as usually I manage it right away, but we tried out a gazillion names and had a hard time finding one that everyone could agree on. Hubby liked Gizmo and no offense to any Gizmo owners out there, but MOST OVER USED NAME OUT THERE! (that along with Shadow, Bear and Toby) Harry liked Scruffy, but dude, the dog is fluffy, not scruffy and I will be a cold, dead corpse before I own a dog named fluffy. (unless he's a chinese hairless...) I really liked Loki, but the kids are too young to understand the appeal of bad guys. ;) I also liked Jarvis, but was vetoed on that one as well. We all liked Agent K. but it just ... didn't ... feel right. (I also tried Coulson, but nobody liked it either.) Eventually, we settled on Captain. Kind of an odd name, especially for something that weighs all of about three pounds, but it's cute and something I can live with. (plus it works for both Captain America AND Captain Kirk. Kill two fandom birds with onecar stone.)
And now some Snarry! I'm getting my HP Snarry groove on, what with Lubricus coming up soon. Not to mention I have two other pics outstanding. One for Lubricus itself, and one for the HP Fanart fest! I also have another half finished Snarry and a Tony/Steve?(a cock, it could belong to anyone, really) that I need to finish. I"m also working on some HP car decals. Busy, Busy Busy.

Quincey and I went to see the Avengers again tonight. Man, that movie makes me want to be skinny. Well, skinny and ripped! Thank God, if I sit around long enough, eating M&M's the feeling goes away.

Date: 2012-08-01 07:21 am (UTC)Thank God he just got knocked around and not squished. that would have been even more traumatic for everyone involved. He didn't even look that beat up, but obviously was. I think he probably died of shock.
He was quite a character and will be missed around here. Our other two geese are much less dorky, and therefore less ... personable?
And yes, Captain is ridiculously cute. And I just recently found out that Great Pyrenese CAN be black and white! I had always thought they were just white but no, it would seem not.

Date: 2012-08-01 08:12 am (UTC)And the Snarry is burning. I really love the loose tendril of hair on Snape's face, for some reason.

Date: 2012-08-02 06:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, I am SO glad it was hubby and not me, because the guilt would have killed me, even though I *know* it wouldn't have been my fault any more that it was hubby's fault. *shrug*

Date: 2012-08-01 09:53 am (UTC)Avengers makes me wish for skinny ripped-ness too. (I'm happy that it's summer so that I can go sleeveless and have all the feels for my favorite character. :D )
ETA: Oh, I missed the part about your goose! Poor thing. I'm sorry.

Date: 2012-08-02 05:09 am (UTC)evil gooseDr. D was quite the adventure-seeker.LOL! "I will be a cold, dead corpse before I own a dog named fluffy." Exactly. Captain may be the most awesome commander ever. Do tell us if he barks. in. a. staccato. fashion. You simply must get him a Spock plushie toy. I wonder if he can manage an elegant face punch with his very fashionable cast?
Mmm ... looks like Harry's about to call Severus 'captain'. Fabulous hair, by the way.
Skinny and ripped, you say? *breaks out the M&Ms & a dumbbell ... aaand gives up*

Oh, I would love to see that film again... but I'm afraid I have to wait for September.
