Day 54 Question
Aug. 2nd, 2012 03:35 pma) have you ever bid on a 'fandom' auction or purchased a commission?
b) did you get what you paid for? Or did you get burned?
I bid on three different artists/writers in two different fandom auctions (ie. help_haiti and help_japan) and I got burned on all three. *grumpy face* Do I have particularly bad luck? Or are artists/writers just that unreliable?
As for commish: I've only bought two or three and have been very happy with the results of all. I've been ripped off on ebay once or twice, but over-all have had a positive experience.

Date: 2012-08-03 06:53 am (UTC)I feel horrible.
On the other side of things I won a vid and the vidder didn't like my music or any of the suggested pairings (it was harry/draco but I would have taken harry/sev) and she ended up making her own vid that I hated and I think she did too. The thing was... when I was bidding I contacted her to make sure that slash wouldn't be a problem and she said it wouldn't but (later after I won) that she couldn't picture harry/draco to the song I picked or harry/anyone male it seemed. *facepalm* I bid on the vidder so she could make a vid for my sister in law to her favorite song I think it was 'Hard to say I'm sorry' by Chicago but it might have been something from Journey. It was a long time ago and I was just happy to have given something to charity.

Date: 2012-08-03 03:47 pm (UTC)One person just never answered my emails (she did initally, but then stopped) and the other one was "Oh yeah! I forgot! I"ll get right on that" and of course, never did.
Really, a simple message of "I'm very sorry, but due to life circumstances, I'll not be able to deliver" would have made me feel better.
