Does anyone know how to download porn fanfic onto my ipad? I have the iBooks app, but perhaps something would work better? I NEED PORN FOR MY TRIP! ;)

Please use little words, for I know not this tech shit.

YES! YES, I do know that!

The easiest thing to do is to go to AO3, pull up fic that you want to save and then click the MOBI button. This will save it in a format that can be read by the kindle app on your ipad, which you can DL for free if you don't already have it.

Let me know if you need a walk-through, I can totally do that. (hugs)

Actually, I'm curious about how you'd do this too--I put MOBI files on my Kindle all the time, but I do it by connecting my Kindle to my computer via USB and drag-and-dropping to Kindle's "documents" folder. How does one do that on the iPad? Kindle's iPad/iPhone app doesn't have that drag-and-drop option through iTunes, so...?

the easiest way is to actually search for the fic ON your ipad. Then when you click the MOBI link, it goes directly to your ipad.

Does Calibre work with iPads? Wouldn't touch anything with an "i" in front of it (not if I can help it) so I have no clue regarding iPads but if Calibre works, then simply upload the fics on Calibre and then convert and upload them on your device. Takes only a few seconds at the most. One third of the reading material on my Kindle is fanfics LOL

I've never heard of Calibre. I"ll have to check it out, thankyou!

Instapaper!!!

It is honestly the best app I have. I currently have 82 fics saved to it, which is as easy as clicking their bookmark when you're on the website of the fic you want, and then just open the app and it'll sync automatically. Even works with ff.net. And because it saves a download, you can read them all offline, sort them into folders, rate them, and even export to PDF if you want to share.

Here is their site: http://www.instapaper.com/ And if you want help setting it up (though it's basically get a free account, drag bookmark to your browser bookmark bar, download app, sign in to app) then just shoot me a pm. The free version will get you 25 fics before it asks you to buy a $5 (iirc) license, but I think I have a free code from Starbucks for it.

That sounds like it's exactly what I'm looking for! I"ll have to check it out, thanks! I already dl'd the kindle app, and it seems that it will save it there which will be great.

I love it. And it's how I've managed to save a few fics that were removed from the net...just exported my copy to pdf and emailed myself. ;)

Cloudreader I use this app to read the largest variety of text formats. Best off all it's free. You load stuff through both iTunes or the apps uploader.

Try Dropbox.com

There's a magical program called Dropbox. It's a cloud storage program. I installed it on my desktop and it shows up under "My Computer/Finder", depending on your operating system. I have many fanfics saved onto a flash drive/hard drive. All you have to do is drop and drag files into the Dropbox file and you can access them from anywhere. For example, I also have Dropbox [free] on my iPad. As long as I have Wifi, I can access my files. I pick a file and open it either Pages or Notebook or another word processing file [those are the two I have], I can read or write. For example, I'm writing an original novel and never know when I'll get to work on it. I carry a mega-flashdrive with me all the time that has my writing as well as my school work [tests, exams, etc]. Now I can just use that as a backup and rely on Dropbox to have my stuff all the time. It's ridiculously easy and free.

Just an added note. I usually read my fics from Word. I don't like saving and reading online. I usually copy fics from online into Word and save them for later reading. That way I don't have to keep track of bookmarks. I keep a file on my harddrive for Facfics, so even if an author deletes a story, I still have a copy.

If Cloudreaders doesn't work for you then you can do another thing that takes a few steps.

Using OpenOffice (a free word processing program for the PC) change all the .doc .xdoc or .txt into a .pdf, then just download any free .pdf reader on to your iPad. OpenOffice is the only program I know that translates .doc into .pdf free and without the added bonus of spyware, cookies or a virus...
