What are you 'over and over' movies? (if you have any). I don't really mean the ones you've seen multiple times in the theatre so much as the ones, when you're flipping through the T.V. Channels, and it's on, that you end up getting sucked in and watching it YET AGAIN.

Mine are:

Groundhog Day
Shawshank Redemption
Galaxy Quest
And
The Fugitive.

I would guess that I've seen the last half of these movies 20 times more than I've seen the beginnings! ;)

Also, I'm sure there are more, but these ones came immediately to mind.

I get sucked into the same ones as you, except for Galaxy Quest. I'll add Pelican Brief, Nothing to Lose, and Clear and Present Danger. Oh yeah, and Christmas Vacation! Why don't I own that movie?!

From: [identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com
Okay, I've never seen "Nothing to Lose". Obviously I need to rectify that. You like Christmas Vacation more than the first Vacation?

Date: 2012-08-13 03:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] joanwilder.livejournal.com
Oh yeah, for some reason it's the Christmas part that I find so hysterical. And listen, Nothing to Lose is probably the funniest movie I've ever seen. Also an ownable movie, something I must rectify. There's a scene in there where Tim Robbins' shoes catch on fire; I almost pee myself every time I watch it!

OH OH! And Dutch! Have you seen it? I love his parenting style, and knowing you, I'm sure you'd love this!

The Stand
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (this to my shame, I can fully recite)
I tend to always stick around and watch any of the Indy movies if I see em on, too.

See, I love The Stand in book form, but it just didn't hold up in movie form. And how could it? I think it was good, but there's just no way you can put all of that book into one movie.

:D You would think that watching a movie over and over about a guy who lives the same day over and over would be dull, BUT ITS NOT!

Ocean's 11 (this is always on, on some channel somewhere)
Dave
The Sting (I still ship RR/PN)
Bolt (I don't mind watching it over and over with my kid)
Star Wars

Argh, I know there are more than this. :-/

Edit:
Stripes
Caddyshack

OH yeah, I love Stripes! And Private Benjamin, but I've never seen that on tv.

I've seen Bolt a million times, and Shrek and Nemo too, but I wouldn't sit through them AGAIN if the kids weren't there. (even though they're totally awesome.)

You watch Groundhog Day over and over? Um.

Moving on.

The one that I seriously always completely always stop on unless the house is on fire: Air Force One.

GET OFF. MY. PLANE.

Also the Fugitive (There may be a Harrison Ford theme in Movies I Always stop On...)
Original Star Wars trilogy (this is probably the root of my imprinting on the man; I also will probably watch the one with Anne Heche, and all the Indys even the last one, and, like, the Amish one...)

Most of the Trek movies, which, astonishingly, have no Harrison Ford in them at all. (not V, the one with the emotional Vulcan seeking God, yeesh, although that one I will stop if I catch it early on and can get the camping/rock-climbing scene and the rest of the group being retrieved)

I have seen the Fugitive a few times in the last few weeks, because I bought it and my kid likes it.

I bought him Air Force One today! :D

Many of my fav movies also seem to star Harrison. And my son's name is Harrison .... ????? :D

Shawshank & GQuest are on my list, too! Add to that: Twister, Steel Magnolias, Driving Miss Daisy, Mississippi Burning, The Little Girl Who Lived Down The Lane, The Matrix (any), Blade, Major League and the Fifth Element.

I am helpless before them all. I own them all on DVD, too. And I *still* watch them, cut and with commercials. Every. Goddamn. Time.

Lol. *nods* It's laziness and the Pavlovian training we've gotten through the years, being children of the TV Age; can't get up during the commercials, you might MISS SOMETHING OMG. SOMETHING I HAVEN'T SEEN THE FIRST 89745456 TIMES I WATCHED THIS MOOOVIIIEEE.

I forgot to add Enemy Mine. ;P

Love Actually - I have no excuse for this except I'm queer and find it adorable. And the soundtrack is awesome too. AND ALAN RICKMAN.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark; and the Last Crusade. - I can quote these word for word.

The Potter films, obviously.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Amuses me to no end.

V for Vendetta - Every 5th of November, and whenever else it's on.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - I don't know why, but it's not Christmas until I've seen this.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (which is on BBC America all the f'ing time!)
Any of the HP movies.
Christmas Vacation
Lord of the Rings
Independence Day
Galaxy Quest

They are either. Anything that sucks you in when it's playing on tv. Most of the ones I said are good movies, but there are some shit ones that I like too. :D

Here's what I watch over and over:

-MST3K episodes. Seriously, I have them ALL, and I put on my favorites several times a week.

-Musicals. 1776, Chicago, Hans Christian Anderson, Lili, Chess in Concert, Baryshnikov's Nutcracker.

-Made-for-TV fantasy. Arabian Nights, Snow White: A Tale of Terror, The 10th Kingdom, Merlin (Sam Neill version).

-Classics: Marx Brothers, The Thief of Bagdad, Tyrone Powers films.

(Of course, for three months, it's been a steady diet of The Town, The Hurt Locker, S.W.A.T., and Thor, with occasional inserts of Iron Man and Iron Man 2.)

And, see, all these are on DVD. I don't flip channels. I just come home and pick a DVD and pop it in; I can't waste time channel-flipping.
