Art Year In Review
Jan. 1st, 2013 12:42 pmYay! 2012 was a fun year for art. Avengers was obviously my new fandom, but I still dabbled in Harry Potter and Megamind. (and keep your eyes open for Trek in the new year, with the movie coming out!!!!)
All in all, I drew 70 individual pieces, plus 16 panels of Crab Nuggets (Megamind Fish cakes comic) and 27 panels of my Avengers comic Regarding Tony, so that's 113 in total. Not a record or anything, but not bad!
And now the round up!
BEST

Two Can Assemble (Avengers)

Morning Light (Megamind)
As much as I am never happy with my digital skills, my pictures using chalk pastels on black paper always pop in a way that makes my toes curl with glee. Highlights. I love being able to add highlights, and not many traditional media allow you to do that.
FAVOURITE

Bananas! What the fuck? They were so fun to make, and just looked so damn cool, and yet, only lasted a few days. It took me about a month to even crave to eat another banana though.
MOST FUN

I was thrilled when the con-queens at Lubricus asked me to make the cover for the programming. They wanted a 'sleepover' type theme, and I just couldn't resist a big slashy pile up.

I love trying on different art styles, and making characters into Simpsonesque peeps is always fun.
NEW MEDIUM

Scratchboard! Wow, what a difficult yet rewarding medium! Drawing backwards (from dark to light) is brain-bustingly strange, but the cool almost metalic look of the scratched off lines looks amazing in rl. Not being able to pre-sketch my stuff has been challenging, but I have a WIP right now where I think I've managed to side step it. Time will tell. That's Bill Murray, a random wrinkly dude and RDJ btw.
SEXIEST

Drawn for OliverSnape's big bang fic. mmmmspoonsex

Pencil! I did very little pencil work this year. And mmmm extreme closeups. Sooo dirty! (this is Steve/Tony btw.)
MOST PROUD

Probably my Regarding Tony comic I'm doing now. It's in a totally different medium and style than I'm used to drawing in, but I've been very happy with the results, and the feedback has been sooo enthusiastic and generous. I had originally planned on writing it as a fanfic, but I had just finished a big bang, and didn't have then energy to go again, so decided to illustrate it instead. So glad I did! I'm not sure how many more panels there will be, but I would guess I'm not quite halfway done. With twice weekly updates, it keeps me more than busy!
HOLY CRAP! WRONG FOR EVEN ME!

Sadly, there hasn't been much 'wrong' stuff from me this year. No lack of porn, but nothing earth shattering.
COSTUMES

I didn't do anything for myself this year for halloween. I made Quincey a grim reaper costume, and also made these things earlier in the year. I gotta say, that Mjolnir STILL looks great. It's practically bullet proof!
GOALS FOR THIS YEAR
Have fun! I want to finish my comic, of course, but between my already existing fandoms and any more that might strike my fancy, I have no doubt that I'll be very, very busy in the upcoming year.
Thanks to everyone who is new to my flist, and bigger thanks to all of you who have put up with my fandom whoring throughout the years. <3

Date: 2013-01-02 06:20 am (UTC)I'd love to see more of your art! Those little paintings you did for your ... niece? Nephew? Were super cute! You have some talent yourself. All hairdressers do. ;)

Date: 2013-01-04 04:43 am (UTC)The banana art & scratchboard masterpieces are amazing. I think the Bill Murray one is the only piece I hadn't seen before. Man, that's fabulous!
I hope you have a prolific, happy, healthy New Year! ❤
