I actually haven't read any Loki fanfic (aside from Team stuff) so I only know him as a bastard.

As an Avengers fan since the first issue (where Loki was also the villain) in 1963, I would have a lot of trouble coping with "Loki joins the Avengers" and "Loki needs a hug" and "Loki is a poor, misunderstood, abused woobie" fan fiction and avoid it like the plague. At that time Stan Lee often characterised him as the "God of Evil." I cheer on the use of villain Loki.

(Though modern Loki is a bit more ambivalent, particularly in the incarnation as Kid Loki.)
