When I was grinding the glass for this, I was amazed at how many little pieces of glass I managed to get in my hair and on my face and down my shirt etc. Then later, as I was looking through some boxes of stuff labeled 'Stained Glass' is found the GUARD FOR THE GRINDER. Oh yeah ... it almost makes sense now. ;p

You can't really tell from the picture, but his hair and eyebrows and goatee are done with this neat, dark striated glass in mottled shades of brown. It really looks like hair!
It is about ... 24"x18"

And yeah ... I've already started on my next one!

It is really meticulous and time consuming (and expensive) but SHINY, SHINY GLASS!

Seriously, you have to try pretty hard to make it ugly.

Alan reminded me that my Christmas present a couple of years ago was a promise of a stained glass workshop - and then suddenly we bought a house and had no money so it didn't happen. But when we have money again (new job! yay!) I shall definitely be claiming my belated pressie :-) I like doing new things to cheer me up in the winter months. xx

Does your job allow you the time? I imagine that you're very busy.

It's not nearly as bad as it was in the emergency department - I actually get days off now, rather than working 12 days through, collapsing for 2 days, repeat :-)
