Well, you know .. sort of.

A friend of mine was doing some fund raising for her political campain, and part of said fundraising was a dinner and art auction. I offered to donate one of my pics, and after a hearty laugh, she accepted. ('cause nothin' will help your political career faster than auctioning off pr0n based on childrens' novels, right???)

I picked because it always looked 'het' even though I hadn't intended it to be. Plus, harry's not wearing his glasses, and you can't see his scar, and Snape doesn't have his tell-tale black robes and high collar, so .... I figured what the buyer didnt' know wouldn't hurt them, right? :D

So, my friend takes the pic (which I framed quite nicely) and brings it to the dinner, and an artist friend of hers (like, a real artist, who actually draws and paints for a living) leans over to her and whispers ..."is that a GAY kiss?" teehee!

Well, my art sold for the second highest amount that night! (granted, only $60) but it went for more than the 'real' artist's pic!! And the woman who bought it still has no idea that it's harry and Snape having a snog. I think that's kind of sweet and funny. :D

Commission? I don't think so! It's one thing to sell stuff after the fact. It's entirely another to have the expectation of greatness before I even put pencil to paper. No, that's called a JOB and thanks, but I already have on of those! ;^)

Yes, Eternity would have been good, but I drew it for _Hill, and really, it belongs to her! It's funny too, because I pretty much nevah draw backgrounds, and I don't really care, but when it came time to SELL something, they really didn't look 'finished' without a bg.

Bungled Kiss at least has some 'etching' (ie. scribbles) behind the characters, for backlighting, so it looked more... finished than some of the others. I cropped it very close, so that you can't see that I lazed out on the edges.

And yes, seekrit gay man-love in some lady's house! Huzza!

thanks! I've never been to an art auction, (and I didn't attend that one either) so, of course, my auction experience is like ... crappy movies and Sutherby's, so I'm thinking ....$500? When my friend said, "Yes! Yours brought in the second highest price, I was all excited, until she said $60. *snerk* So, not including materials (which are negligible, really,) per hour, it would roughly work out to the same as being a child labourer in a Malaysian sweat shop! :D
