*keyboard smash*

I've finished my new pattern, and I'm (so far) happy with it, but the GORGEOUS glass I've chosen for the flames SUCKS ASS.
photo-4

It's super beautiful, but cuts like shit. Some glass, you can do all sorts of crazy stuff and it cuts just fine. This stuff practically crumbles in your hands! And, of course, I need to make all sorts of curvy/wavy cuts with it.

Same goes for the really nice purple/blue I've chosen for Cas's wings. I will be grinding this shit into shape FOREVER.

I seem to remember from my stained glass course that red glass is often really crap to cut. Good luck!

I tend to work with water glass a lot (because it's cheap and pretty) and it cuts great, regardless of colour. This glass? Not so much.

The banners are going to be white, and I've never had much luck cutting white. My grinder is going to get quite a work out this time!

Whoa, that looks like beautifully colored sugar art. Man, this is going to be exquisite!

Ha! It cuts like sugar! It's really pretty though. I think it will really look good as fire.

looking forward to seeing your project. Cutting glass has to be a pita. Waiting to hear how you join the lead.

Depending on the glass, cutting can be quite fun and satisfying. Not this time! I will be doing the copper foil method. I've never done the lead came thing.

I'm sorry for the misbehavior of the red glass, but it really looks like flames. I also greatly love the pattern and pose, and - assuming you will paint the writing and the faces like you did in the previous one- look forward to the finished piece. It will be amazing!
(and yes, I know how hard it is to wait for technical times when you really really want to finish the thing you're working at)

THere will be LOTS of painting on this one! The faces, the banners, the hands, Dean's shirt and possibly the columns that frame the whole thing. I might even do a test piece with the flames. Reds often don't fire well, but maybe I'll use a scrap and see what happens to it.

I'm sorry about the glass, but that is one hell of a gorgeous design.

Thanks! Making my own designs is really fun, but super challenging, because what looks nice on paper is not always what will work with cutting glass. I"ll be halfway through and go … WTF? What was I thinking there? :D

But hey, it's MY design, so I can change it at will.

Do you do commissions because ***GRABBY HANDS*** LOVE stained glass and WANT!!!!! Can't wait to see how this comes along. OH and sorry your flame is so hard to work with. I have a friend that does glass and have heard him bitch a time or 12. I hope it stops giving you fits and finds it's proper place in your work of art.

I would definitely consider commissions, but keep in mind that glass is expensive, time consuming and shipping would be a bitch. ;)

What did you have in mind?

I have a few things in mind... let me think about it more. It would go to North Carolina, so not as bad as trying to ship something into Denmark which is just HELL to the NO! And time wouldn't be an issue, so let me stop drooling and think. :D Since you do writing I actually have something in mind... but have to finish the design in my head. :)

But Goodness you do lovely stuff!!!! :)
