I've never seen art like this before, it looks fabulous. What on earth did you use to cut it with? I can't imagine how difficult this would have been. Cutting paper is one thing, but feathers barbs move unlike paper. Wow, you must have the patience of a saint to to do something like this!

Thank you! For the first one, I started with a regular dollar store box cutter, but then went and got an exact-o knife to finish it.

I've thought about trying paper cutting, it looks so cool! But then saw the feathers and tried them first.

With tumblr it's nothing to do with being tech savvy, it's just a stupid platform.

PS I don't understand your tumblr format - I can't find any way to reblog or heart your stuff!!! This is yet another reason I don't like tumblr. LOL

Amazing! It's absolutely fascinating and pretty and very, very impressive. How on earth did you do it?

From: [identity profile] tripperfunster.livejournal.com
Thank you! I cut out a paper template first, then 'drew' it on the feather and cut it out from there!

But what on earth did you cut it with? Fairy scissors? My mind is just boggled at the loveliness and cleverness.

Just one of these: http://www.dickblick.com/products/x-acto-1-knife/

I bought a smaller one for better detailing yesterday, but I haven't tried it yet.

These look fantastic; I'm amazed with the level of detail you got!
I wonder if it would be possible to glue/varnish (whatever that is on the feathers) multiple feathers together and cut a larger portrait in them, like castiel.

I was going to try portraits today! I don't know if you could attach them, but you could certainly line them up, like a tryptic type thing! *ponders)

Haven't seen this before. Beautiful work. What did you use to draw the pattern on the feather? My daughter's gf does glued feather art, she's going to love this.

Thank you! For these ones, I cut out the shape, then traced it on the feather. In later ones, I just used the cut out pattern and cut around the paper, instead of drawing it and leaving white ink on the feather's back side.
