*waves*

Car accident injuries are slowly (accent on the SLOWLY) improving and my job training is over for now, so I'm back home (in my new Vancouver Island home) settling in to work and family and the never-ending un-packing.

I haven't drawn a thing for months, as sitting with my arm in a seemingly neutral position (like at a computer) actually still hurts. I can lift a bale of hay, but can't sit for long with my arm at a relaxed 90 degree angle. ???

Anyhow, I took part in Gishwhes again this year, and it was my first 'arting' since the end of May. Yay! Julie Frulie joined me again this year, and I think we managed to hit a few out of the park again.

Item #2: A freight train pulling a tiny flat car with a woman dressed in Victorian attire writing a letter to her beloved, with a vase and flower on the desk.

I'm sorry, did you say TINY flatcar?? :D

Item #11 I lost the link, but you were supposed to re-create a photo of a dog biting a sprinkler spray, but you couldn't use a real animal. This is my version of this year's mascot, the Sealion/Kangaroo abomination called Slangaroo.

Item #18 Recreate a painting by Goya in candy.

Kinda sorted cheated, as much of that 'candy' is actually tiny little sprinkle balls.

Item # 34
I portrait of Jensen Ackles (from Supernatural) ON a skittle.

This looks like 25 different people (Mulder, Caveman, Andy Samberg) but NOT Jensen Ackles. *sigh*

Item #44 Two elderly men playing chess by candlelight in a crowded movie theatre.

Me and Julie make the SEXIEST old men! :D

Item #56 Green eggs and ham on a boat with a goat.

Me and Thyla (in a parking lot in a boat!)

Item #68
Your fav Supernatural actor on an Etch a Sketch, in the style of a famous painting.

This was my first try, and I knew I could do better. (is it just me or does this look like Eugene from the Walking Dead? :D )

This was what I submitted.

Okay, giant post is giant. I'll add the rest to another one.

Sorry to hear about your arm.

Love the GISHTWHES pictures though. It sounds like it was fun.

Gishwhes is always so fun. Nice to really give it everything you've got for one week.

I missed a chunk of LJ posts; I think I missed out about your accident! It looks like you're not letting it keep you from awesomeness, though. :) That skittle is amazing but I'm freaking out most about Bro With a Pearl Earring!

Thanks! Yeah, the accident post is about 3 posts back. It's my shoulder, really. Then I moved and started a new job and was away for almost a month training, so it's been a crazy summer!

Etch a sketch aren't actually that hard once you get the hang of them, but they always impress!

Sorry about your arm. I totally missed the news about your accident, but have been wondering where you've been hiding. Are you doing occupational therapy?

Hey toots! <3

Yeah, car accident = very damaged rotator cuff.
I've done some therapy, but find i really ... lame? I dunno. I find massage has done more for me. Maybe I just need a different therapist.

Therapy being anything other than lame has not been my experience and I have had multiple therapists. The most recent one hyper extended my leg and fractured part of my knee. So no weight bearing for me until it heals.

What, the goat's name is Thyla? Is that a Star Trek reference?

You know this already but I LOVE YOUR STUFF!!!

Thanks hon! MOST of us did some pretty awesome stuff this year. (emphasis on most!!)

Yes, Thyla (or T'hy'la) IS a Trek reference. We used to have a horse named Spock too! :D

I'm glad you're getting better. :) May the arm trouble disappear soonest - things that hurt when they're at rest are the most annoying.

As ever, your GISHWHES efforts awe and impress me.

Thank you! The mind boggling SLOWNESS to this healing is driving me crazy. Clearly my brain has not gotten the "You're Old" memo that my body has!

And this is only about 1/3 of the stuff we gished. More to come!

You certainly knocked a few out all right! Our Skittle artist insisted nothing would work on her Skittle without dissolving it, and so she tried carving it with a pin!! It was less than successful, but as she left the Skittles unattended in the tender care of her hubby, sadly on her return they had mysteriously disappeared... LOL!

I love your etch-a-sketches too, and kudos for managing the cinema one. We didn't even attempt it this time.

Glad you are settling into your new home, it sounds wonderful - apart from the lingering injuries. Hope those start to ease off soon.

The Skittles were horrible! (but yummy!)
I also found that the paint just wiped the outer candy coating off, so I put clear nail polish on them first. I seriously spent WAY too much time on this one and it still looked nothing like him!

The very first movie theatre we went to was wonderful and accommodating! We actually tried it during the movie, but it was way too dark to see anything, so they told us to try the next movie during the pre-show, because the house lights are still on!

It is amazing what people will agree to. I worked very hard on getting the Museum/Art gallery one, but there aren't any galleries close to me, and I get 100% more "Yes's" when I am there in person, vs over the phone.

your entries are amazing as always! I'm especially impressed by the etch-a-sketch one; I have always found them extremely difficult/frustrating to work with.

I love using Etch a Sketch, because people are ALWAYS impressed. The trick is to draw as much as possible in straight lines, then just lightly outline. Sort of like shading in the drawing first.
