Prophecy squeeage and fangirling
Aug. 7th, 2007 07:28 pmMan, that was sooo much fun! I was half expecting everyone to be incredibly mal-adjusted and lewsery and boring (as fandom people are often represented to be...) but seriously, EVERYONE ROCKED!
My first fangirlvictim incident was
_hill. She was so CUTE and sweet, and gracious and we walked around with
xterm and looked at each other's art and talked about techniques and other arty things. Very cool. I don't know anyone in RL who does anything remotely arty, so that was a great opportunity.
then back to the art gallery, where I finally met
glockgal. Honestly, yummy enough to eat with a spoon. So sweet, and cute and giggly. She looks nothing like Frank 'grimey' Grimes whatsoever! :D
I also met
tbranch who is a DUDE btw. And not just a dude, but a pretty frickin cute one too! Plus
cathybites (also edible),
umbrus and a few others, who I forget. Honestly, I can barely remember my own children's names, let alone freaky, unpronouncable eljay ones!
Then, as I was gathering my shit,
accioslash showed up with a HUUUGE cauldron OVERFLOWING with HP stuff (Wizard cards, Bott's beans, magic wands, a SLYTHERIN BELT BUCKLE!) just for meeeee! What a sweetie! So she, and her hubby Al and I went for a five hour lunch (which they very generously paid for..) and we laughed and laughed and laughed.
Accio and I have corosponded for quite a while now, but I was really unsure if we would click in RL. so much for that! I felt like we'd known each other for decades. gobs of fun!
that night was the artists meet up/drunken karaoke party. I grabbed some food with
mudblood428 and Longlegged (and someone else who's name I've rudely forgotten, sorry!) eta:
dramedy We brought our stuff back to Glock's room and partied hardy. Cathybites is a FREAKIN animal. Absolutely the life of the party. but not in an obnoxious PFO way. Just silly and funny and sooo much energy! Mudblood, aside from being talented and gorgeous, has a wonderful voice! That girl's got game!
I also met [Bad username or site: cnary creme delight @ livejournal.com] that name probably won't work, because she spells it oddly, but suffice to say, canary creme delight was a lot of fun to chat with. (and when I say 'chat' I mean shout over the karaoke. Then the hotel kicked us out and we moved our party to the artist's room.
At some point, Accio brought me over to meet
dementordelta,
snapetoy and
bethbethbeth, all people that I had really been dying to meet! (and fangirl)
DAY TWO
Pretty much everyone mentioned above (plus about 40 more) attended Glockgal's artists roundtable the next morning at 9am. She promised Timbits, and delivered! It was great, then on to
gmonkey's art class, and next was a slash panel put on by
demetordelta,
snapetoy and ...?? oh shit, I'm having a brain fart here. I'll edit it in when my brain starts up again. Unfortunately, they spent more time talking about the recent shit on eljay and less time talking about BUTTSECTS, but hey. LESS THINKY, MORE DINKY! :D
Next was my turn at the drawble table. I had been pretty nervous about it, as cartooning isn't really my style, but I was thrilled to hear that many of the other artists that I admire, had similar nerves. Luckily, we had done tons of practicing, then night before, in each other's art books. I'm sure I would die of shame to see some of those things again, but hey, whattaya want in under ten minutes? :D
Later on, was the SNARRY MEET UP. HOW FEKKING FUN WAS THAT? I had FINALLY met [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] aka
raewhit, earlier that afternoon, and so I sat with accio, her hubby Al (what a peach!), and (another brain fart here..dbsomethingoroother???), with Raewhit right behind me, adding her two cents now and again.
It was really a who's who of the Snarry fandom, with
dijn7 Of the Snarry games, and
aliciamasters of Walking the Plank. Plus pretty much everyone I've mentioned so far, and tons of people whom I have NO idea who they were, but suffice to say, they were well known by people who actually pay attention to things.
The dinner was really great (at a restaurant in downtown toronto, where they booked a huge room for all of us) there was trivia, and DEAR LORD, THE GIFTS! It was never ending! There were raffles galore, plus huge boxes of stuff for everyone who'd pre-registered. Way, way cool. And so much lurve.
Okay, I'll post the drawble art soon, and then pics when I find the cord to my camera.
Bottom line: Everyone was so cool, and so friendly and fun to be with. I hope to do it again one day! Thanks everyone for being so lovely! *squeeeeeeee*

Date: 2007-08-08 03:41 am (UTC)It was a thrill for me, believe me. I think your Dreaming Spires was the first Snarry that I'd ever read. Also my first AU, so after some head scratching...I was like....aahhh, yes! Cool!
I've been a shameless fangirl of yours ever since! That squeeing that you hear is all mine! :D
