[livejournal.com profile] elicia8 wrote a meme about things that give her shivers, and it was a partial list of things that make me cry.

Things That Make Me Cry (not like...real things, like people I know dying...stoopid things like books and movies and such)

1) When Gabe dies in Pet Cemetery. (Stephen King)
2)The Christmas morning scene in The Stand (King, again)
3)The scene in Forest Gump, where he has trouble asking if his son is....smart.
4)The scene in Dumbo, when his mom is in 'prison' and she's rocking him on her trunk, singing Baby of Mine. *mists up just thinking of it*
5)Six or seven scenes in Dances with Wolves.
6)hmmm there was a commercial, for Duracell, I think, where there's a burning building, and a fireman comes out of the smoke and flames, and you think, Oh, he got out okay, then he opens his coat, and he's holding a little baby inside his jacket. *sob*
7) Oh crap, I can't think. I'll add more later.

What makes YOU cry?

This sounds kind of silly, but those Liberty Mutual commercials, where someone does a good deed and someone else notices, and then does a good deed, and someone notices, and then does a good deed etc etc the length of the commercial? I still get choked up.

Don't get me started on Hallmark commercials!

I haven't seen those commercials, because I'm in Canada, I guess. When you say Liberty Mutual, I think of that cranky old fat puke, "It's the right thing to do!" From the Quaker Oats commercial? I think he did some sort of Liberty commercial too.

There are a few commercials that 'get' me each time, but i could only think of the Duracell one off hand.

I cry a lot at the end of A League of Their Own, and at some point during Love, Actually...depending on my mood.

Also, Yankee Doodle Dandy, with Jimmy Cagney? TEARS OF PAIN AND SORROW AND LOVE at the end.

I've seen (and liked) a league of their own, but I don't remember crying.

I HAVEN'T SEEN LOVE, ACUTALLY! I know! Sacrellige for a Rickman fan! I'm just so horrible at returning movies, so I never rent them.

I've never seen Yankee Doodle Dandy either. I'm sure it's on late night tv all the time. I will have to check it out! Thanks!

When Elenor finds out that Edward isn't married in Sense and Sensibility (the movie version). I tear up every time, it's just so relieving and wonderful when that happens.
