I've seen more movies than usual lately, so here's my thoughts on them, in 20(ish) words or less. Some movies are rentals, so they're older ....

Pirates of the Carribean, ... the last one, I don't remember the subtitle...
I didn't love it, but I liked it quite a bit. Too complicated/too many characters at times, but now I"m totally shipping Cleric/Mermaid!!

Green Lantern
WTF? For those of us who are not comic book geeks, the first 15 minutes was stupid, melodramatic and useless. The actual action scenes were okay, and I found I ended up liking the character more than I though I would, but the whole thing was really uninspired.

Date Night
How much do I love Steve and Tina together???? What a great couple. Really cute, funny movie that took a turn into stupid/over the top, but overall, I enjoyed it.

Horrible Bosses
Really great cast. Kevin Spacey? I"m in! See above, with the over-the-topness, but still a pretty funny movie.

Paul
I love these two guys, so I'm not sure why I didn't think I'd like this one, but I did!(probably because I hate Seth Rogan) More violent than I expected, but I'm not sure why, because ALL their movies surprise me with the violence. AND SO. DAMN. SLASHY!

Captain America
Wow. I thought this would be along the lines of the Green Lantern, but it had WAY more heart. The main character was VERY sympathetic. Still had that comic book melodrama, but the best movie of it's genre that I've seen for a while.

Crazy, Stupid Love
Probably my favourite movie I've seen this year. The people act in ways that aren't terribly logical at times, but they sell it well, and I really liked a lot of the characters. One word: ABS!

Dophin Tale
Oh man. I cried at the TRAILER of this movie, but the film itself didn't really deliver. It was too long and needed editing. Harry Connick Jr? YUM! nom nom nom (I did tear up at the end with the 'real' footage clips though ..

Real Steel
Wow! Now here is a movie that I wasn't looking forward to seeing, but ended up really enjoying it! (and I"m not a huge Hugh Jackman fan) I was surprised that I was really rooting for the underdog robot to win.

Jack and Jill
Oh Jesus, this was bad! Even my kids left the theatre shaking their heads. How does a film this crappy get made in today's market? There are certain expectations that film audiences require (yanno, beginning, middle, end, character development??) and this movie fell so short on every front.

Okay, I"m done!

TL;DR Crazy, Stupid Love = YES!
Jack and Jill = NO!

I thought Green Lantern was better than Thor (and I am a bit of a comic book geek) but still not that good a picture - although I loved Mark Strong as Sinestro. Glad to hear that Captain America is okay though; I haven't seen it yet but I'll have to get around to watching it some time!

I haven't seen Thor yet. I hear it is chock-full of hawt guys, so yeah, I won't complain too much when my kids want to watch it. :D

I DID get a big girl-boner at the end of Captain Amercia, long after the credits have rolled, there's a short clip about the upcoming (like in over a year away) Avengers movie. RDJ as Tony Stark? With Thor AND Captain America? Oh yeah, I am there for THAT slash-fest!

Thank god I"ve been flexing my comic drawing muscles! :D

One of my high school friends worked on the screenplay for Horrible Bosses. Not a very close friend...I admit I haven't seen it yet! I friended him on FB though, and watched his growing excitement with the cast as they were hired. Glad the movie came out well, for his sake!

Oh yes, I'm sure it would be a thrill to get some big name stars for something that you helped write.

It's a pretty silly movie, but I don't get out much, and it certainly entertained me!

I'm glad you liked Captain America. I loved it. I was terrified they would screw up Steve Rogers, but Chris WAS STEVE ROGERS. It was pretty awesome. And I cried when he used his body to shield the others from the fake grenade.

When he woke up at the end of the movie, I wished/thought that he woke up in Stark's mansion. LOL.

OH man, I totes teared up when he did that too! I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that!

I had never even HEARD of the character, so I had no expectations. I thought they did an amazing job of making him a skinny little (but tough) wimp and then transforming him.

That grenade scene? That was what solidified Steve Rogers for me. That is what Steve Rogers would do for his fellow man.

I thought Chris (I always forget his last name? Is it Pine? Fine? ehh, too lazy to look it up too) did a really fantastic job characterizing the small skinny man who had a big heart. Because as I always hear soldiers say, it's not your body that makes the soldier.

Chris Pine is Captain-super-hot James T Kirk in the XI star Trek movie.

You mean Chris Evans. (and I only know that thanks to Google.) You peaked my curiosity. :D

Yeah, those two Chrises, they both Fine :D

For some reason, Evans is such a forgettable last name. And I just realized it's Evans as in Lily Evans.

Oh, and I ship Steve Rogers/Tony Stark. Always have. I hope they have some slashtastic scenes together in The Avengers.

And in my ship, it's creepy/good that Tony Stark's father is the one who made Steve Rogers the super soldier, while Tony has always his father's legacy.

my roomie is a superhero fan, not me and he liked that new Captain America movie a lot. (He wasn't impressed by the Thor movie though)
I heard Jack and Jill sucked worse than most Adam Sandler movies (eyeroll).

I'm not a superhero fan. I hated all the Batman movies (both new and old) but enjoyed the old tv show. I liked Spiderman, but I don't really care for the whole genre.

Yeah, Adam Sandler makes some shitty movies, and this one certainly tops them. Well, the ones I"ve seen, anyway.

I will check these out. I learnt after BoG to take your movie sense for srs. :)

Hey, have you seen 'Assassin in Love' (UK title: 'The Baker')? This is my best for this year, I think.

Huh, I've never even heard of that movie. I"ll have to look it up!

I haven't seen Jack and Jill. I won't see Jack and Jill. I do...not...understand why anyone thought it was a good idea...

Paul is good then? I fucking HATE Seth Rogen, but if you liked it despite hate, maybe I will too.

Well, from the ads, Jack and Jill looked silly, but still watchable. IT IS NOT. Like, for serious, I am amazed they let it go to the theatre like that. I was super bad.

Yes, Paul is good. In fact, I think you'll enjoy it more than some, because the two main characters are FANDOM GEEKS!!!!!! The whole thing starts out at a sci-fi convention. And damn, but they're slashy together.

wow, I have seen none of these, but I kind of wanted to see real steel.
Sounds like jack and jill lives up to what I expect from it's commercials.
I would think, after things like tootsie and mrs. doubtfire, where the whole 'male-comedian-dressed-as-a-woman' trope was done well, folks would put more effort into similar films. Instead, it seems like every over-the-top guy out there thinks he can have a smash hit just by tossing on a wig and talking in a falsetto.

The commercials make Jack and Jill look like a fuckin' BLOCKBUSTER compared to what it delivered. I'm not sure I've seen a movie with such a high budget that was so badly made. (I've never seen Waterworld ...)

Real Steel was actually pretty damn good. It's really not my type of movie (and honestly, it's a tad long,) but really well done and has lots of heart.
