Baaa. Grab the closest book, turn to page 45. Read the first line. It will predict your sex life in 2012. (paraphrased, because I suck)

Well. .... There is a surprising dearth of books around me! Lots of movie cases, paperwork for the store and art, art, art, but no books. First one I found was one I bought a couple of days ago called "The DC Comics Guide to DIGITALLY DRAWING Comics". Yes, I lead an exciting life.

Anyhoo, page 45 line one gives us this:

Because I work in an almost assembly-line way, I always try to err on the side of caution."

So .... I should use condoms? ;)

When having sex with a line of people? Yes, probably. XD

Also, how is that book? Worth the purchase?

I don't know, I haven't read it yet! :D

I SUCK at digital, and there are all sort of tips and tricks that everyone but me knows about, I thought this might help. I seriously just learned about the 'multiply' button last year. Yeah ...

So, it was really just to help me digitally, moreso than comically.

Stan Lee has a nice book (How to draw the Marvel way??) that's pretty good, but it talks about more traditional drawing and inking and stuff, which, I must admit, is more up my alley.

Yeah, I have the Stan Lee book. It's interesting but mostly historically with some general simple art theory because it's really out of date if you're actually interested in modern comic book styles. Christopher Hart has a better one (I forget the title but it has "cutting edge" in it) but I'm still looking for something better. Really what I should do is shut up and practice what I already know, but I'm a sucker for theory sometimes. I'll probably check out the one on working digitally now that I know it exists, so thanks!

If you have questions about the digital stuff you can ask and I'd be happy to help so far as I can. It's the way I most of my drawing these days. Do you have a tablet?

Yes, I have a wacom. A pretty nice one too, but I've just never felt ... comfortable? using it. I'm certainly no master at traditional stuff, but, sort of like my first foray into scratchboard, it felt right. Although I see lots of room for improvement, I'm immediately pleased with the results.

Aside from semi-flat colouring on my traditional inks (as my Phineas and Ferb stuff illustrates), I'm rarely happy with my digital work. I never put down the stylus and go "Yeah! I fuckin' rocked that!"

I AM OLD! ;D

Yeah, I think it's really something you have to persevere through. I remember when I started using my tablet it was so frustrating because it felt unnatural and I wasn't as good as I was with a pencil. But you really do develop a separate muscle memory for it and eventually it's still different from traditional media, but not worse. Plus ctrl+z and no clean-up which, with a small child, is my absolute favorite part.

Hahahahaha- I am inappropriately amused by this. Initially I felt I needed to defend your technique - assembly-line?! But then, on second thought that just seemed awesome. ;D

Yes, well, when one has sexual partners in such large numbers, one does have to take on a machine-like sense of organization. DOES ONE NOT? ;)

Mine is, "The bursts come no closer to hurting you than scoreboard fireworks." So I guess there will be much bursting but I'll come out of it no worse for wear.

That's kind of frightening! :D But exciting too!

Hopefully there will be no scoreboard though ....

"Written in a feverish, semi-literate hand, this message bears no resemblance to the earlier two--- save in its savage humor!"

I'm definitely a big fan of my sex life including the written word, especially when it contains savage humor. Apparently I'll reduce my partner to feverish semi-literacy! ;D

Sounds very British! Let's talk about it, and write about it but not actually DO it! :D

Come to think of it, sounds like fanfic writers!

But not artists, we get laid all the time. ASSEMBLY-LINE STYLE!

All of the books around me are preschool children's books. None of them even HAVE a page 45. What does that say about my sex life, I wonder?

That's what nap time is for, sweetie! :D

And yes, it didn't say much about me, that I couldn't even FIND a book where I was sitting. :D

If your book fortune is true, then you better be safe than sorry.

The closest book to me is 'Baby's first sushi book' and it only has 7 pages. Does this mean I will have no sex life whatsoever?

Ha!

I got:
"Press Ctrl+y or right-click the thumbnail and select Copy To from the context menu"

... my closest book was the paint shop pro 8 user guide.

oh, wait, it might actually be the harry potter cookbook. in that case, it's:
"place the flour and salt in the bowl of a food processor and pulse to combine."

I like that one better. it has a kind of tantric sound to it, yes?

Pulsing and combining is much better than Ctrl+y.

You really need to try it with a REAL book. :D

I grabbed the dictionary first and got, "8 severe 9 ill 10 sorry; distressed/ he feels bad about it/ 11 offensive - adv. [inf.] badly - n. anything bad - not bad [inf.] fairly good."

... o_o .... let's try this again shall we?

**picks up A Beautiful Mind** "who was Austrian by birth, was often able to explain the fine points of von Neumann's book Mathematische Grundlagen der Quantenmechanick, which Duffin was using as a text." .... This is what I get for having Mr. L's "books I use for school/math nerdness" immediately next to the computer.

I like your response so much better!
