Remember when I talked about the poultry auction?? anyone? Well, we didn't get anything TOO exciting, a couple of chickens and some regular ducks, but we DID buy these two lovely African Geese.

They're quite cool, with that dinosaur head lump thingie, and they seem to get along with our other goose Dr. D.

And, of course, like everything else, they get lovely slashy fandom names. STEVE AND TONY! Tony is the one with the .... goatee thingie. Steve is a bit taller and much quieter. :D They didn't seem to want to sit for a photo though.

also? Quincey wanted to play Avengers with his friend at school. Quincey is Captain America, and decided he needed a shield. So we cut out a circle in some cardboard (great learning opportunity for him to see that freehand SUCKS and using something already round, like a pizza pan works muuuch better ..). I cut out the star and traced the circles for the stripes, but let the boys do the painting.

Then, for straps i just cut some sturdy ribbon and glue-gunned them on. It has held up quite well, deflecting nerf bullets like it's really made out of vibranium. ;) Sadly, we only had those crappy water colour dry disks for painting. I went to Micheals today and bought some tempura paints.

Then Quincey decided that he'd like Mjolnir. :D :D :D Seriously, there is a cosplayer in my just DYING to get out. I get way too much enjoyment from making silly props out of household items.
I got some dowels, hot glue gunned them together, wrapped them in little leather strips, then found a box from juice boxes, cut it down a bit and voila!

The main challenge was to attach the handle so that it would be sturdy, so I wrapped a blob leather to the top of the sticks, glue gunned it on, then glued THAT to the top of the box, then crammed the box full of old plastic bags, cut an x to push the handle through and whee! Mjolnir!! Here it is with one coat of (OMG STINKY) tempura paint on it.

It's hanging from the chandalier as it dries. ;)

One more coat of paint, a few more strips to re-inforce the handle, and we should be able to summon thunder! I'll touch it up with a bit of silver paint too (this is just grey).

Hopefully Quincey will be worthy to pick it up! ;)
