Hubby bought me two'draw your own' mugs for xmas, and I've avoided drawing on them until now. TOO MUCH PRESSURE!!
What if they look like something made in summer camp???

White ceramic? pen on black mug, then baked in the oven for 20 min.

Now I only have to stress about the one remaining mug.

Um, pretty sure I would love to commission you to design a mug for me! But with more sex. Lots of sex. Or just two giant penises. Sword fighting. No, sex. I think I would want sex on my mug.

Dang, I have a kid now. Fluffy bunny?

Your mug turned out phenomenal. If you don't like the pressure, you can always get those mugs where you draw it on paper and slip it between the plastic layers. Then you could redo it anytime you wanted!

Ha yeah, aren't kids great?

I kind of miss nap time, where I had time to do whatever I liked. Now I have to wait for acutal bed time, which seems to get later and later every week. ;)

Thanks. Now I feel even more pressure to make the other one look good. (not from your comment! Just because the first one turned out well ...)

Whoa. That looks amazing! You did stuff like this at camp? Because I couldn't make much of anything at camp--a potholder, maybe.

(OMG, what if you made fan art portraits with those loop looms...yeah, OK, I have no idea how one would do that, but I wasn't expecting the bananas. Or the beading.)

Ha! No! I didn't go to camp much, but I meant I didn't want it to LOOK like a shitty pot holder or popscicle stick teepee. ;)

I wasn't expecting the bananas or the beads either. They were a very pleasant surprise.

Ha, you make it sound like you're sleep-crafting! I know that's not true. I love it that you are bringing Seurat into the 21st century...or maybe he was already brought in the form of pixels. Still. You spoil us with the clever inventiveness of your fan art. I feel incredibly privileged to live through this weird moment in the history of art.

I had to google what Seurat was. ;) Maybe I AM sleep crafting! ;)

I just meant that I am as surprised as anyone when these things actually look good when I'm done.

The pointilist painter with the famous picture of the picnickers by the Seine.

I was thinking that actually Seurat and pixel art were borrowing from a longer tradition of tapestries and beading. I don't know why I'm dignifying the more masculine/high tech sources instead of thinking of medieval tapestry or embroidery.
