Deal Breaker Song
Jan. 26th, 2014 11:53 amDoes anyone else have 'deal breaking' songs, that when, if you're listening to the radio, you'll automatically turn the station?
For me, when I"m listening to classic rock, I just cannot stand to hear 'Another Brick in the Wall (II).' I'm not even sure why. It's not a bad song, but for some reason I DO NOT WANT. I think, maybe I've just heard it too much for one lifetime. ?
For newer stuff, I turn off 'Wrecking Ball', mostly because I find it to be a horrible ear worm. It's not a good or bad song, really, but I can't stop humming it even hours later and it drives me insane. I don't really have an opinion of Miley Cyrus. I don't really like her, and I think she's gone off the deep end a bit, but I also think she has the right to do whatever the hell she wants. I don't want to be all "OMG a woman showing her sexuality??? *gasp*" ON the other hand, I find her kind of creepy, but neither of those things have much to do with my 'deal breaker' feelings about her song. Mostly it's just way overplayed.
How 'bout you guys?

Date: 2014-01-26 08:12 pm (UTC)I don't mind many of the current pop songs, it's just that they get so damn overplayed! I generally listen to a station that plays 80s 90s and 'whatever' as they say. I have lots of good memories of music from back then.

Date: 2014-01-26 10:49 pm (UTC)I was out this morning on the skid-steer, plowing our driveway. It's been a horrible wind/snow storm here all day, and I"m sure there are drifts blocking it already!

Date: 2014-01-26 07:46 pm (UTC)Also "Blurred Lines", because fuck you Robin Thicke.
On a sadder note, I have to immediately switch stations if I hear "Layla" by Eric Clapton because I will always break down crying, as it reminds me of a dear friend named Leyla who passed away.

Date: 2014-01-26 08:18 pm (UTC)And yeah, I have the same problem with the song 100 Years by Five for Fighting. It's a beautiful song, and when I'm alone in the car I"ll listen, but it makes me cry every time, because it was playing a lot when my friend Grant died of cancer. I love it, because it reminds me of him, but it's pretty much guaranteed that I'll cry.

Date: 2014-01-27 06:20 pm (UTC)"Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke because date rape much? Plus, I always start out thinking it's Marvin Gaye and then it just pisses me off when it's not.
"Fields of Gold" by...er, I can't remember who because it makes me cry.
