I'm bored and desperately trying to avoid all manner of boring/non-fun crap that I have to do.

Ask me a question about ANYTHING and I'll do my best to truthfully answer you.

Nothing is off limits.

Did I mention that I'm bored??

:D

You must be reaaaaallly bored. Okay. What's the one thing you almost did but didn't and now regret that you didn't do?

Well, not so much bored, but avoiding boring paperwork crap. Me and the fam leave for vacation on Wednesday (at the ungodly hour of 6am!!) and I have taxes and payroll and banking and laundry and packing and CLEANING of animals to do.

eljay is much more fun! :D

You ask a hard question. My attention span is hardly long enough to remember anything past this morning.

I wish I'd learned to play the guitar. Instead, like an idiot, (and typical 6 year old) I thought the accordian would be much more fun. (and heavy to carry around.) Needless to say, it was a good twenty years before the accordian actually became cool, and by then, it had been long forsaken. I do, however own the TACKIEST squeeze box on the planet. (no pun intended) It is all mother of pearl, with GOLD 'black' keys and gold buttons. If Elvis and Liberace put their design skillz together to build an instrument, mine would def. be in the running.

I've tried to learn the guitar as an adult, but I just plain old suck at it. Plus ouch! It hurts the fingers. I'm fairly proficient at the drums, and I took a few years of clarinet lessons (and I can sing pretty good) but the guitar remains an elusive mistress!

As for a deeper answer to your question...actually NOT doing things isn't my forte. Especially when I was younger. I was pretty much a 'jump in with both feet and think about it later' (if at all). Gryffindor baby! :D

How 'bout you?

Oh, I just thought of another one. UNIVERSITY CHEMISTRY! It hates me! I took it twice, and dropped out twice. I hated it, and now, it haunts me. I'll have to go back one day and take it, just so say that IT DOES NOT PWN ME!

except that it does. It does pwn me

Listen, tripp. I had to take uni chem, a lot of it, and it drove me nuts. There were things I just couldn't seem to get, y'know, wrap my mind around. I think I got to the point that I had a mental block about it. Five years later when I went to nursing school and had to take biochem, it was so totally simple and I scratched my head and wondered what in the hell had been my problem. I bet if you go back, and the pressure's off and you're older, you won't have any trouble at all. But srsly, with all the stuff there is to do, I'd shuck the chem unless you have a reason to take it. Now, applied chem might be interesting--after all, you deal with organic environments that require a basic understanding of biochem. Right?

Oh, tripp, an accordian? Hee, did'ja have saddle shoes too? Yeah, the older you get, the harder it is to learn to play an instrument; hell, the harder it is to learn anything! When I was at uni, I spent a month's worth of food money to buy a violin, cause I'd always wanted to play. I had to work reallllly hard at it, so much harder than Mandie did when she started to play. What did you learn on it? Polkas? Hee, Acordian and drums and clarinet-- makes me think of John Candy in Home Alone. Strangely enough, I play the guitar fairly well. I'm a string person, I guess. You've got the natural talents, and they're much more portable--singing and drawing.

Haaaa. Thinking about you, you know you're right. Never thought about it that way--maybe I should've asked what would you have not done if you could take it back? See, I've given myself away, because my life is rather littered with things I regret not having done. The main thing, naturally, at this point in my new and painful unemployment, is that I wish I'd not been a nurse at all, that I'd gone on to get my Masters in French and joined the hallowed halls of academia, thus sparing my poor back and kept myself blissfully ignorant about all manner of gory, bloody, pukey stuff, not to mention having a now somewhat hackneyed but unavoidable acquaintance with frequent and tragic death.

Hey, I say fuck all of it except taking care of the animals. But that's irresponsible, isn't it? My current bent lies in that direction, though, so you might want to disregard that...

I'm slightly impaired, can you tell? My god, did I write all of that?! Feel free to tell me to get the fuck out of your eljay.

I would nevah shun you from my eljay! Especially if you're drunk! :D

Funny that you wish you hadn't become a nurse. I TOTALLY wish I'd become a doctor! I think I would be a rockin' surgeon! Or maybe a veterinarian. (they don't have to specialize like doctors, but they also make way less $$$$)

I just wasn't that 'into' school, and the thought of another bazillion years of it turned me to rock and roll bands. ;^)

Acadamia? ZZZZZZZZZboring. I think your stories that you tell about nursing are phenominal. I'm sure they made you who you are today!

I was in pre-vet at Penn State for almost two years--it was the chem that killed me. I was only average in it, and vet schools want you top-notch at chem. And my adviser told me I was to 'empathetic' to make practical (read: money) decisions about animal treatment. Pffft.

I do have a lot of good stories, it's true. Thanks for the nudge; I've not done one in a while. In the meantime, I'm working on the caveman.
