Art vs. Reference

I posted this somewhere else, in response to a huge Wankfest that I don't even want to get into again (no, it wasn't about me) but it was about artists using/copying references. I use references, but I don't trace them, but occasionally, I draw closely enough to get results like this.
This is sort of a post about nothing, but I kind of think the drawings look cool when matched up/placed over the original reference.

In case I'm not being clear, this is my art interspersed with the original reference photos. Shit, if nothing else, it makes me realize I need to use WAY more reds when doing skin tones! :D
ETA: In the 'kissing House' one, he's kissing Stacy in the original, and I stuck Wilson in there, so I put that one at a lower opacity so you could see the two(three) of them there.

Date: 2007-12-13 04:02 pm (UTC)The 'original' House kissing Stacy pic (the second last from the bottom) is placed under my drawing of Wilson kissing House, then I used a low opacity, so you can see them both. Makey sensey now?
