My son loves video games, Mario Bros in particular. We've found some videos of their tv show, from ... the eighties? Anyhoo, I found the entire package of Mario Bros tv programs the other day, and brought them home for him.

HOLY FUCKIN' SHIT, THEY ARE THE CRAPDAPPIEST PIECES OF SHITE TO EVER CRAWL DOWN THE PIPE.

And not like, 'kids movie' shitty, 'cause I can take that. Hell, they're not even Barney the big annoying dinosaur shitty, because HE has more talent in one of his purple child molesting toenails and anyone involved with the Mario Bros movie franchise. I kid you not.


In the last episode, King Koopa (the bad guy) kidnapped MILLI VANILLI for his daughter 'Sweetie-pie'. Okay, the name was changed slightly, so like ... Silly Vanilli or something. To top it off, they spoke kind of like Arnold Swarzenegger(sp) except ... really gay.

Over acted, and waaay under written. Suddenly Smurfs and Strawberry shortcake look like quality programming.

OMG HAHAHAHA That fucking cartoon sucks SO HARD! The sad thing? I was obsessed with it as a kid! My siblings and I STILL sing the "Do the Mario" song from the end of the show...it was so lame we remembered it forever. Oh man but a few years ago when we watched some episodes just for old times sake, we were embarrassed as hell that we ever liked it. Same thing with other horrible 80s cartoons we thought were so great, Pound Puppies is the biggest 'WTF were we thinking' cartoon. COMPLETE SHIT CARTOONS!!!!!!!!

Thank GOD Ren and Stimpy came out not too long after, and I forgot all about those shitty cartoons for the rest of my childhood :D Nothing would ever compare!

Awww, come on, I grew up watching The Super Mario Brothers Super Fun Show every day after school! (Every Friday was a Legend of Zelda cartoon... WONDERFULLY craptacular!)

The live-action shorts were the best. Do the Mario!

There was another nintendo cartoon that came on around then too I can't remember what its called. I know it had Simon from Castelvania (they turned him into an effin fruit cake!) and Mother Brain. Thats all I remember tho.

I don't remember those other cartoons. I probably didn't watch them. And the Mario cartoons got REALLY bad after they cancelled the Super Fun Show and just showed cartoons (there were cave men or something). And watching the Legend of Zelda cartoon makes an EXCELLENT drinking game! You'd get wasted on, "Take a drink every time Link says, 'Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me, Princess!'" alone!

I don't think I was watching it after they got rid of the live action stuff. I think I went thru puberty and started chasing boys by then or something, heheeeeeeeee ;) Good thing too, sounds like mario started to suck majorly.

There was such a huge trend in the late 80s/early 90s of making cartoons out of nintendo games.

I don't remember much of the series, but my brother recently collected all of the DVD sets (including the cartoon only ones) so I've been reintroducing myself to it... little by little... but that's still... ugh, it's fantastically awful.

I just moved on to other cartoons. (Lol, nerd!)

ROFLMAO! Zack loves to play the Mario video games too. We got him some Mario character dolls for Christmas, and then Hubby found a couple of the cartoons and got them too. They're horrible, awful, pukey and terrible, but of course Zack absolutely loves them.
Oh, well, what can you do aside from burning them to a crisp when he isn't looking? LOL!

I grew up watching that, so I'll admit to having some fond memories of it, but I'll also admit that yes, it's shite. ^_^ The Legend of Zelda cartoon was over the top, too, but in a really good way.

Rainbow Brite, now, that one I've watched again recently, and it's still made of awesome. Particularly the movie. Dark and full of action.

You're talking about Captain N. ^_^ I watched that one, though I don't really remember much about it. Kid Icarus was in it, though, and I believe Link and Zelda were in at least one episode. I remember thinking that they were very different from the Zelda cartoon and being horribly confused about it.
