Oh man, I don't think I've EVAH worked this loooong on any art. It wasn't really hard, perse, but it was just so damn slow going! I must say though, that being forced to slow down really helped me to focus on many of the details that I would have sort of just scribbled through with a regular drawing.

click on it to make it enbiggened

And here's a detail shot

Oh Trip, this is inspiring. I love the crinkled skin around Snape's eyes. And I think I'd love to try this sometime.

Thank you! My advice? If you're going to try it, do it on a VERY SMALL drawing! This one is about 10x10 inches square (which isn't huge) but it sure felt like it!

Wow. Just ... wow. I have no idea how anyone finds the patience to do pointillation, and with this level of detail! I can see how it would help with the details though.

I am not, by nature, a very patient person, and I really couldn't stand to 'just draw' with this one. Meaning, I had to have the tv, or radio on, or be supervising the kids or something else to distract me.

And at the end, when I only had Harry's hair left, I had to take it in shorter spurts, like 15-25 min at a time, because I'd start to get cross-eyed after a while.

Good Christ, that is fucking awesome.

Go you! I'm glad the god awful tediousness patience paid off! <3

WOMAN!!!! GUH!

These almost photo-realistic portraits of yours are my very favorites. I stared at this for a loooong time. I love how your characters, in general, are plain people - Harry is not a supermodel, just a kid. And Snape! I feel like I've met him before. I just know what the teeth beneath that mouth look like to push his lips out so. And his crow's feet! And the sideburns! And the youth/aged contrast between their cheeks! And those noses! You make me want to run my fingetips all over these two.
I don't care how long pointillism takes (actually, I've done it, so I know), you must do more if it produces art like this. You are an artist! You must suffer for your Snarry! Pleasepleaseplease.

Thank you! what a lovely critique! Snape might look familiar, because I used a ref photo of Richard Gere for the shot. I changed him, of course, but many of the elements remained. (an odd choice, I know, but I really liked the pose, so I gakked it)

Thanks again for the lovely review, it really made my day!

Thank you! Yes, it was a tremendous amount of work. It really wasn't difficult, just .... tedious. And, of course, I did the 'fun' parts first, and left all that damn hair for last. *grumbles*

Thanks for looking!

Thanks! I actually LOVE drawing hands. They don't always work out, but when they do, they totally rock a picture, especially since many artists avoid them.

This is so beautiful! Your ability to draw fantastically detailed faces and hands has always amazed me. I like how you didn't try to smooth out Sev's wrinkles or pretty him up, but he's gorgeous nonetheless.

Fabulous. I love how Harry looks boyish yet masculine and Snape, oh Snape, how I love your Snape! The eyes, the nose, those little wrinkles, the texture of his cheek..... and how you made their hair so different yet still human hair. Gorgeous, gorgeous art.

Have I told you lately.... Haaaaa, you do such excellent haar, but this is above and beyond haar; it's tresses! Love Snape's eye-crinkles and dimples and their expressions made me smile myself, which attracted Viola's attention and now I'm reading 'The Little Engine that Could' again, damn you.

Beautiful job, tripp. Glad to see you finished it. I was wondering....
