Someone just de-friended (un-friended?) me. Um ... I actually didn't even recognize the name, and yet ... I'm still kind of hurt. Y U NO LIEK ME? Now, a lesser person might think that we just didn't share a fandom any more, or they have just moved on or whatever. But an obsessive person like myself will mentally go through my last 1e34958043 posts (yeah, there's an 'e' in there) and try to find something that scared them away.

Actually, ... I don't really have to go back that far, do I? Superglueing a hammer to your dick might just be the one! :D

In other news, I've introduced my son to the joy that is The X Files. (thank you netflix!!) He is totally smitten and I am really enjoying the trip down memory lane.

Speaking of Netflix ... I NEED SEASON THREE OF THE WALKING DEAD. Where are we in real time right now? Like, what season? And how/where/whodoIhavetoblow to get season three? It wasn't for sale in the video store ....

I already tried itunes. Totally for sale there, but NOT IN CANADA. GRRR I seriously live a 45 minute drive from the border! this is ridic.

Hubby says he has some voodoo device that lies to the interwebs and tell them we're in New York or something, but he didn't have time to play with it before he went to work. I am DUMB when it comes to all things tech.

Oh X-Files. My first major fandom, and the first one I ever posted fanfic for. I was OBSESSED with that show. So many fond memories.

I don't know all the names of the episodes, but The Peacocks will go down in infamy here. *shudder* I'm not looking forward to my son seeing that one! MOM, WHAT'S INCEST? ;)

I also loved the one with the circus guy with the tail! Well, his tail was removed, but he appeared to a woman as Luke Skywalker, and she had his baby? And then he took the form of Mulder and was making the moves on Scully. Good times!

I also LOVED LOVED LOVED the one where there was some odd ripple in time and Mulder and Micheal McKean (the guy from Spinal Tap) switched bodies. Oh jesus, I think that was my fav one ever.

No, wait! the one with Charles Neilson Riley!!!!!!! Oh god, that was fucking amazing writing! i got chills just thinking of that one!

Also, the one with Peter Boyle. (the psychic) That one rocked!!

Ooh yes that one with Michael McKean was all kinds of awesome, yes. Charles Nelson Reilly...I think that was Jose Chung's From Outer Space. Had Alex Trebek as a man in black?

My two favorites, Paper Hearts is where they go after a serial killer Mulder once tracked down, who cuts out little hearts from the girl's pajamas after he kidnaps/murders them. Mulder starts dreaming about him and thinks he might have killed his sister Samantha. It's a heartbreaking episode, one of Duchovny's best.

Bad Blood guest starred Owen Wilson as a hokey sheriff in a town full of vampires. It had Scully doing those countless autopsies, and was extremely funny.

To be honest I stopped watching when Mulder was abducted. I only saw maybe a handful of episodes after that (the ones where he finally got closure on Samantha and that damn Moby song played and RIPPED my heart out). And I saw the series finale, which was disappointing, but that was probably also due to the fact that I wasn't up to speed on the mytharc anymore.

I did enjoy the movies though. (the first more than the second, but it was pretty good too.)

Our conversation got me very excited to see some of those amazing episodes! I hope my son is old enough to enjoy them properly. At 11, action is more important than clever, ironic writing. :D

I hope your son gives up after season 4 or 5. Let's be honest. The show went in a bad direction after the movie. ESPECIALLY after season 7. When I was pregnant and on bed rest, I watched ALL NINE SEASONS. AND the movies. God. Help. Us. All. I trooped through the last couple. It's funny, though, you watch the pilot episode and it seems SO freakin old and strange compared to the rest of the series. Even their character personalities seem different. I almost named my daughter 'Dana.' Well, she IS a red headed girl, it would have worked! And oddly enough, Dana is a family name on my husbands side... But only for men. :/

I think some people un-friend for much more trivial reasons, so they don't intend you to feel the way you do! It's also a function of the way LJ works - you can only follow someone by friending them, and when the reason you started following them is no longer there the only option is to un-friend. For example, if I see a fic I like after a rec from someone else, I have to "friend" to make sure I don't miss any other good fics. And then it transpires that the person only writes once in a blue moon and we have absolutely nothing else in common.

It doesn't mean that they don't like you, just that they're different!!
